New truck is too tall to be easy to get in and out of. Wife is really struggling and we use the bed multiple times per week. I’m thinking a bed step is the solution, but I admit I don’t love the way they look stowed.

What are the pros/cons of the OEM vs AMP or others?

I really like the power bed step I have, it tucks nice and flat unlike the non power ones I've seen, and it's the perfect height.

works awesome when you put your golf shoes on, HA

that said, its probably pretty hard to add the OEM power one I would think

Hey Dude I am with ya 100% . I am short and the 20 inch tires are pretty tall when coming form sixteens on last truck. The step is just like yours and is a bit getting use to on the truck i have found that getting to the side instead of rear i can get the step to come down easier because it moves out and down. Also i use GO RHINO electric running boards and they are far superior in construction and bells and whistles than the amp.

20" tires are super small, smaller than my snowblower, HAHA:anonymous:

Any power step vs OEM/non-power has a major disadvantage: when the mechanical aspect fails, they're utterly useless.

Other than the height is there something else you don’t like about it? How far below the bumper is it when down?

I’m only looking at manual options.

It isn't the most attractive thing, but it isn't all that bad IMO. Some folks seem to have bigger gaps than others in the up position. My main issue is that the low deployed height makes it not very useful, IMO. It goes way below the bumper when down. GM's bumper steps are far superior.

I believe they all look about the same. I put an aftermarket bed step on my last tundra and it pretty much looks the same as the oem on my new tundra

Shopping around online it looks like the OEM can be had a lot cheaper than the AMP version. I don’t really want to risk it on an Amazon knock off so I guess Toyota is the way to go.

Doesn't matter if they're covered under warranty. The time it takes to do a warranty claim and swap for a working step you don't have a step.

Maybe so, if your words are true and fall into this new acceptance of the laxidasiy un accountability & poor work ethic post covid BS. There will be some extended down time, but it will get fixed or replaced under warranty, I am patient within normal boundaries.

Why not just a simple folding step stool from Home Depot, Lowes, Etc. Thats what I use on my 2015 Tundra bed.

I had an F150 Lariat that had that nifty built-in tailgate step that folded out from inside the tailgate. There was also a pole that flipped up and locked into place to grab onto as you climbed up the step.

    Something similar here.

I have oem non power, it does sit a little low but still works, my only wish is if they had a passenger side option as well
