I've seen it for sale on YT. It is making the rounds like the prospeed turbo build.

I recall some discussion on this a while back in the thread. IIRC, those that chimed in didn't have problems at around 30-50% methanol mix, and perhaps somebody did at around 70%. But I might be making it all up...

@blenton you remember that bad toy guy doing the 6.2 build and running NOS around 2014? At least AES should have a runner available. Just drill and weld those ports in!
Discussed methanol back on pg. 386 with an article from prometh. Will wear coating over the long haul but not damage bearings.

I think you are correct. That sounds right about the mixture threshold.

AFE intake development almost done and should be out soon from my source. Can’t share pics but looks interesting. I’m curious what the tube diameter will be. Won’t solve the LT tundra issue (solution soon for that) but maybe another option than the Maggy box. I told them to add a front feed which looks like they did but who knows if they’ll include a front tube etc

You’ll be better off I think. Some features I don’t like that I think aren’t an issue on the Maggy box.

My idler pulley froze and think it jumped when I got on it. Somehow the AC clutch ate the edge of the belt. Now rocking a 6 ribber. Upgrade to Gates green coming up.

I had a similar experience on my LSA, welding the accessory brackets warped them enough for it to jump teeth, except it devolved from a 6 rib belt into a 4 rib belt due to the edge of the AC pulley :D

Question, has anyone measured the boost drop created by the internal intercooler/heat exchanger on the TVS R1900?

It’s surely negligible. Typically on heating/cooling coils in the HVAC world you’re talking a fraction of an inch of water column of pressure drop across a coil. Even if it was 1” of water column drop that is only .037 psi.

I think banks and holdner say 1psi drop through the intercooler average

1psi drop is probably the case on an air to air intercooler for a turbo setup where the air is traveling through a 3’ heat exchanger, but surely not for air going through a 1-2” thick air to water supercharger intercooler coil.

There is always going to be a pressure drop when you are cooling the air...are you trying to find the restriction, or efficiency of the A2W intercooler?

There will be a boost drop, just the nature of the beast… So let me add/change the question, can we reduce it by spacing the heat exchanger and lid up? The exchanger not only sits very close to the blower outlet, and the lid is not only close, but essentially running the air straight into big flat wall as it exits the heat exchanger. Other applications do this, and see gains.

Kennebell article on the gt500 saw 2psi drop. Their big gun intercooler upgrade saw .5psi. Not far fetched we would see 1psi etc

At least on my Harrop the air comes out of the rotor discharge straight through the 2” thick intercoolers into the intake. On those remote coolers the air has to do a total 180 degree turn through what is also a much thicker intercooler. Seems pretty clear to me which is a bigger restriction. Rapid changes in the air direction of travel drops pressure. Bottom line is, trying to give the pressure drop though a water to air intercooler in a supercharger any consideration is a waste of time IMO.

Forget the heat exchanger core for the moment, rather, look at how the air enters and exits. My point is that the air doesn’t have equal access to the large heat exchanger face, at least in the Mag TVS R1900. The area for it to spread out and enter the complete face appears to be on the slim side.

In regards to the purpose of your post, I would think the struggle with spacing the intercooler and lid farther upward would further block off the air path down into the sides of the housing as shown here based on how I recall the 1900 being designed. I do agree that a 3/8” gap for the air to pass through is pretty restrictive.

Your drawing is spot on. It’s not simply the space, but all that air has to make an immediate and very sharp 90 degree turn, very little radius there. Even a small increase in the lid height could produce results here. There is some material that can be machined out of the main body/case in the area you have circled.

As above, so below… the area between the rotor outlet and heat exchanger is also small.

You know this fella by chance? Seems like he’s doing dyno testing with this upcoming intake.
