Yes, I believe they own it now. You should really have a bottle. It's one of those tools that, if you're dealing with rust on something where liquids won't work well (i.e. not a perfectly flat panel), you can't beat the stuff. And it eats rust like nobody's business. Just read the instructions!

You can buy it on scAmazon if you're too lazy to go to the store. I recommend this bottle: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C016OC/

But scAmazon charges a premium, the LAPS probably has it for $13-14.

Today I successfully extended the range on my rs3200 keyless system, from 5-10 feet before, to about 30 yards now. I could have never locked/unlocked my truck with my key fobs from inside the house before. Or from the mailbox to the garage. Stoked.

All you gotta do is locate the RS3200's ECU, behind the gauge cluster, then undue the largest plug, locate the grey wire on the end of the plug, opposite side of the retention clip. Then splice into it with a 3 to 4 foot wire and run it up the A-pillar, into the headliner.

Oh that’s interesting for sure. I wonder if the 3000 would be similarly improved.

Yes, I did this one my 99 Tacomas rs3000 over a decade ago and it worked great. On my Tacoma I was able to trace the grey antenna wire from the plug on the rs3000 module to where it was wrapped around the steering wheel. I unraveled it and ran it up the A-pillar into the headliner. I didn't even have to splice anything. My taco range after that was so much, that I could hit the unlock and it would automatically lock before I made it to the truck sometimes, because of the 30 second timer you have to open the door.

Why not just ground it to the chassis, then the entire truck will be the antenna?

Because I never thought of that.
I don't know enough about electricity or antennas to know whether or not that's a potentially bad idea. I do know that my truck is already the ground to alot of stuffs haha.
No idea if grounding the antenna would be good, bad, or indifferent.

:D You would be amazed how much easier this thing was to remove. I remember how hot and miserable it was that day. Seemed like it took us forever to install it.
I'm going to remove as much rust as I can then hit it with Rust-Oleum primer and follow up with their Truck Bed spray. I used that in the past for touch up and it's almost a perfect match.

I dont know if the rs3000 is where the rs3200 was.behind the gauges on the tundras or not.
I know on the Tacomas it was behind the driver kick panel. But some people reported it being under their driver seat.

I just know it's a grey wire. Lots of info on it on TW.

Oh I’ve located mine before. I know where it is. Just didn’t think about the antenna. And my range sucks donkey balls.

You've learned a lot of tips, and tricks along your wrenching journey too. That helps. Plus it was a Florida day that day.

Anyways, I've always used jobs I've done in the past to gauge how much I've learned/grown to current. Constantly comparing myself now, to where I was then.

From your posts alone, your confidence has grown, as well as your general knowledge of "wrenching." When was the last time you mangled something, huh?

I mangled a toilet today. Why the hell are the threads on the handle nut backwards? Took me like 20 minutes to fix that thing.

Looks like I might have had a factory amp at one point?? Found these screw holes on the post behind/under the temp controls...can't think of what else they'd be for.

That's where a blaster helps. Like up in the compound 45/90 degree buttresses in the back. But looks like you've gotten after it well with the wheel! Those grinders go on sale for $10 sometimes!
