Ok it’s November 6th has any dealer and or Toyota figured out how to fix the fuel gauge problem? I’ve taken my 22 tundra in 3 times for inaccurate fuel gauge my dealer tells me nobody knows how to fix it I keep hoping an answer comes up

Not that my dealer knows. He didn’t even know the problem existed, or he acted like it, last week when I detailed it for him to add to my trucks profile. Most Service Writers are huge liars. My truck has not had this happen again for three months since I stopped parking on my sloped driveway.

2022 23,000 miles just happened for the first time.
Thanks for the tips did the turn off in drive method it reset to correct level.
Kind of ridiculous that the gauges can’t read properly.

Same here. I have a 2024 SR5 with the 32.2 gallon tank and it’s done it a few times in the first few hundred miles. Resolves each time by turning off the engine while in drive and waiting a few seconds. Then it resets to the actual fuel level. After resolving, the gauge and miles to empty reset to an accurate measurement. It never effects the overall MPG.

Went in in October. They dumped my tank and refilled it, checked all the usual things, and they contacted Toyota. Engineers have not figured out what causes it and they don't have a permanent fix. But Toyota is reportedly aware of the issue. Not sure they will ever figure out a fix by the sounds of it. The service tech said mine was going to be a "test" case for Toyota since they confirmed it by emptying the tank. I suppose we'll see what comes of it.

So random too. Down in Cali right now and have been parking in my driveway for a week and bam, it reset yesterday. Hasn’t happened in a couple months and this time with a 1/2 tank. Usually happens when at 3/4. If they’d just run the calibration routine after startup when the truck hits 5mph it would be better than running it immediately when it’s in park on a driveway. Or some kind of averaging over the first few minutes. How do all the other Toyota models do it so well? 4 different models I’ve owned have had perfect gauges no matter where parked.

I tried the reset process today for the first time as I have frequent instances where it resets to full at 3/4 of a tank. It actually reset higher by a quarter tank when I followed the procedure.

Just for the hell of it my gauge was at quarter tank and I reset it and the gauge reset to half a tank. It was actually reading right before I reset it. This problem with the fuel gauge doesn’t seem like rocket science. If this isn’t happening to all of the trucks there has to be something in common with the trucks it is happening to.

    Lots of stuff!
Mine did it the other day but mine went from 3/4 reading to 1/4 reading over night and my app told me what the gauge was showing as well so I lost 1/2 tank and the estimated range as well. I really thought I had my tank syphoned! I did the "D" reset and it went back up to 3/4.

This happened just before the fuel line temporary fix. They would have had to deal with the extra gas fixing one problem and the other problem would have made it worse with all the added weight of the unreported gas.

I brought this TSB to the dealership and during the other work, they said they didn't have it. Then they said that they didn't have the software to fix because Toyota didn't give it to them. Maybe in the next 6 months or so they might get it??

I understand that fluid will move around when on an incline but the float should be dynamic and the reading should match the float position. This sounds sort of like our throttle issue. These are just variable resistor devices so why does this have to be so difficult??

Maybe we need a "ctrl+alt+delete" set of buttons on the dash?

It looks like this doesn't apply to my situation either since my fuel level went down by 1/2 a tank and came back after I did the quick reset. Mine was built near the end of the 22 model year (one month later and it would have been a MY23) so it might have some of the transitional fixes that appeared in the MY23.

I think their solution is to wait til I trade it in before it gets fixed :)

I will just add this to the list of things that make it special!

The issue is not fixed with the 2024 models I have a 2024 Tundra sr5 and it's already happened to me twice I'm on my 3rd tank about 750 miles on the truck.

For what it’s worth, mine did this since the beginning(Jan 2022) and in the past 6 months after several resets and related/unrelated recalls/tsb reprogramming, the truck no longer shoots to full on nose up situations. Oil changes always did it with the rhino ramps but no longer. Weird

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
Your concern with having 6-7 gallons left in the tank go back to the 2014 model Tundras when my 2017 had a 36 gallon tank and at empty it still had 5+ gallons in the tank. Result was that Toyota has an in-tank fuel pump. In order to keep the pump from overheating it requires the pump to stay fully submerged in fuel. This is why gas is still in the tank when the gas guage says otherwise.

Agree with pump cooling comment and most report 6-8 gallons left like you are seeing.

I've had this issue since Dec 2021 after 2 weeks of ownership. Toyota did the TSB and last week while parked on a slope driveway, I noticed the issue still persist. I learned to reset it from another member here early 2022. The steps are.

    1. From a flat surface, while truck is running, put it in neutral.
    2. Turn the engine off while its on neutral
    3. Give it 30 secs to 1 min in neutral then turn engine on
    4. Put it in park

    That should reset it.

2024 tundra. It was parked on a slant had 1/4 off of full. Says full sent ok must be the slope. Parked started agian still full. Was wondering if someone filled my truck check security cameras nope no one touched it. Still says full like if I filled it up even after driving and turning it off. Distance to empty is if I had a full tank so it's dodgy

This started happening for me today, 2022 Tundra with 24,000 miles. No fix for my VIN number at this time. I did the ODO fix and it worked for now. I have the Carista plug in and I decided to run the fault codes. The truck is throwing the code B150013 "Fuel Sender: Circuit Open" for the instrument cluster. I know this doesn't get us any closer to the resolution but I wanted to share what I found.

lastnight the low fuel light came on, first time ive run it that low, once i was out of line picking up my dinner I immediately put enough fuel in that should have given me half a tank or so. light is still on and all the warnings. weird. so I think to myself maybe the pump messed up (it goes down a lot). take him home and go to bed as little else I can do at 8 pm.
take it out this afternoon, put more gas in it, suddenly is reading fine. -.- i'm glad it unborked itself but shouldn't be doing stuff like this with less than 13k on. will make notes at my next service.

    2023 SR5
