So I just picked up a 2009 Sequoia SR5, about as bare bones as it gets (4.7l, tires, AC, cruise control, non JBL). I want to install fog lights. I haven’t checked yet but I’m assuming it’s pre-wired for fog lights. I’m thinking if I swap out the headlight stalk in the steering column for a stalk with fog light switch, I’ll just have to add the relay and the fuse and it will power the fog lights. The service advisor at the dealer said it doesn’t work that way, that I’m going to have to use an external aftermarket switch.

So is he wrong or am I?

Try a stalk w/ fog switch and measure the voltage in socket where fog relay supposed to sit. Shouldn't cost you much.

I did this on my 07 Tundra. Pulled steering wheel off to swap for a stalk with the fog light switch. All the wiring - relay - fuse - was already there! Literally plug n play with the factory fog light stalk and an OEM or aftermarket OEM style fog light kit. The only thing I was bummed about it there is NOT a dash indicator for fog lights on like on my other Toyota vehicles. But for OEM plug n play, really simple.

Edit: I did find where I purchased a relay PN 90080-87026 around the same time, looks like it's for fog lamps so may be required as well. I can't find the writeup I followed to do the swap at the moment either.

I can live with no dash indicator if it means I can get avoid wiring up new lights. I’d like it to look as OEM as possible.

Thank you for the feedback guys.
