Just picked up a 2024 SR5 a few days ago and I have a few questions for the more experienced gen3 owners. Is the open design of the wheel wells any concern to non-off road driving? I was surprised to see how open they are especially the drivers side front with clear view of a belt/pulley. No snow to worry about down here in lower AL but plenty of flash floods and puddles on my usual driving routes. I did a search here and only found this topic discussed for off roading.

Another topic, I like to surf and paddle board a lot and don’t want to carry a key fob for obvious reasons. With my old gen2 I just kept a good old fashion manual key secured in my board shorts or wetsuit. I can see I don’t have that option anymore with the gen3. Is my only solution to get the Toyota key code pad installed or is there another way to secure my truck while I’m in the water without having to stash my key fob? Thanks!

Maybe look into the breather for the diff, but the wheel well isnt an issue, and the engine is a closed system save for the intake. If you are in water deep enough to flood the engine, your truck is the least of your problems.

For the fob, take out the physical key and read this.

I don't think there is a great option for a key in your wetsuit. The only option I've found is to leave the FOB behind and cary the valet key. Leaving the FOB behind has obvious problems, but putting it into a faraday pouch so the Tunrda doesn't think it is there. Then, you need to hide it or lock it up well.

I got this one, and it is a dual pouch and the inner gold part does block signal.

I wasn't aware of a keypad we could add.

I use one of those waterproof cell phone pouches while I'm kite surfing. Works great. My life jacket/rash guard has a zippered compartment that I keep the pouch in.

Get an H20 resistant magnetic box and find a safe place and easy to get at on your chases.
