I suspect we have the same problem. I will be taking mine to dealership soon, and they want to keep it for a few days just to locate and determine the reason for the rattle.

How long did your dealership take?

I have also have this problem but only when it’s below 50F. I live in central TX so it’s been a while since I heard it. My noise is a rattle / clicking directly above the driver position. Nothing I’ve done treats it. There are several other posts on here that cover the topic. A guy from Edmonton did have luck with his dealer fixing this issue.

    Here’s the post: https://www.tundras.com/threads/clicking-sound-on-drivers-a-pillar.118004/page-2#post-3065326

Dealer took about a week to replace it. They had to order parts and held it an extra day to make sure everything was good. For my truck, the rattle was coming from an area between the panoroof and rear windshield. The rattle sounded really bad when I drove on gravel. Dealer said the original panoroof was a bad product/install from the factory so replacement was covered under warranty. I will try to look for the paperwork when I have time.

Sorry for the delay. Please see below for the note from dealer to include part number 63203-0C050. Granted I bought the truck from them so maybe they were extra nice to me lol

So I’m dealing with this type of sunroof rattle if anyone can compare there’s to this
    https://youtube.com/shorts/APx17j5Y_AI?si=lerqDK8x29qObFwO

anyways took it to the dealer today who acknowledged the noise however was told there are many parts to the sunroof and they are not sure where to start or want to start guessing since it’s brand new and I’m pretty much the first to report this. They created a tas case and said a field tech will be coming down to the dealership to look at the truck. I still have it in the meantime and was told I will have to drop it off at a later date once I get the call and the field tech will decide where to go with it. They were not able to give me the tas number. Has anyone dealt with a tas number or field tech and have any experience on how long it usually takes? I was told maybe a month till the tech comes but not sure.

Any of you guys dealing with this - can you see if you have 3 bolts per side? It looks like I'm missing a center bolt and support. Just curious if others are missing that bolt too.

Well for anyone still dealing with this issue, I have found a fix, at least it works on mine. Anyone else’s mileage may vary but it’s worth a shot. What I have done is the weatherstripping on the inside that runs along near the headliner, I removed and pushed it up to were it sits along where the opening meets the back, which prevents the back from bouncing up and down. I’ve tested it for a few weeks now and haven’t heard the dreaded rattle since. Attached is the photos on how I have it set up, driver and passenger side. Yes it’s not the most ideal way but it beats having the dealer rip apart the headliner. Mine won’t even touch it without opening a tas case which I never hear back on

This is where I noticed a vertical rub mark. As far as greasing the tracks, it's pretty self explanatory once you look at them with the roof open all the way

So that didn't work. Did this and it definitely got rid kf the rattles. Seems like the rattling comes from the pop up wind screen slapping the glass frame.

Added foam strips at those spots and rattling is gone. Will look for some thicker/denser/black weatherstripping to pretty it up.

yeah I’ve tried that spot and that wasn’t it for me, it’s the back flopping up and down not the pop up wind screen

I have the same rattle. Dreading the dealer BS but will make them aware during the next visit.

Good luck. Two dealers I went to wouldn’t touch it stating they need to open a TAS case with Toyota. That was 2 months ago and never heard back. I got fed up with their excuses and decided to fix it myself

@eddiefromcali did you have to use any adhesive to secure those pieces of foam? The metal on my sunroof seems like it has a powder coating that makes it non-stick.

Thanks for posting your solution. I am chasing what may be the same rattle.

I did not, but did notice that the adhesive on the foam I bought doesnt stick to well to it. Once I got it on there and closed the glass, the compression provided seemed to help. BTW, rattles ended up after my post....I believe it's due to the foam compressing and no longer providing any cushion. I then ended up putting 2 layers of foam along the back of the glass where it meets the stationary glass. This has been in place for 2-3 weeks now and the rattles are gone.

I thought I had a sunroof rattle I couldn't find. Wife wasn't any help because she kept saying it was the Tylenol bottle in the console. Turned out to be some sunglasses I forgot I put in the storage bin. It was annoying though, so I understand the grief those with actual sunroof rattles have.

My fix is still holding up 2 months in and no rattles even on very large bumps. There was one day about a month ago it acted up but the stripping just needed to be adjusted which took a minute and it’s been fine since. Just out of curiosity I tried contacting the dealer that supposedly opened a tas case for me and the service manager doesn’t even answer my emails. Obviously I’m not letting them touch this with a 10 foot pole if they ever do decide to reach out to me but looks like I was lied to. Mind you this is a “5 star dealer” yet they don’t want to bother with these kind of things. Wish I had better dealers near me that actually stick to their word.

@eddiefromcali Thanks. Do you think the rattle was coming from the bar, the back portion where it meets, or both? I can *definitely* here the rattle/pop/tap sound distinctly coming from the left or right side depending on what bump or vibration I hit...

I think it comes from the back where they meet

Gotcha. To be sure: did you apply the foam between the outer sections where they meet, or the inner connection with the little ridges that sits down into a slot when you close the sunroof?
