This stereo worked great for me, and sounded fantastic with minimal tuning, but I upgraded to a larger screen unit and am tired of storing this one. It has built in Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto (the CarPlay worked flawlessly for me, but never tried AA on it), has 4 camera inputs, and supports SiriusXM with the separate SXV300 tuner (can find these for "free" after rebate). I recommend adding the Maestro RR to maintain steering wheel controls and OEM settings for lighting and whatnot, as well as having on-screen gauges and TPMS.

I'm located in Chandler, AZ, and can meet within a reasonable distance if you're local. Shipping is available for $20.

What about trim around the HU ?

 

I used the Maestro RR (not the newer v2) with the HRN-RR-TO2 harness, but there are several options depending on your year and trim level. If you want to keep/add SXM and retain factory GPS and SXM antennas, there is another set of adapters for that. I do have the Kenwood GPS included that you can just stick to the underside of the dash though. This is the dash kit I used.

Not seeing the main differences between RR2 and RR

 

The RR2 has Bluetooth to do config changes and such, but I’ve heard it’s buggy as hell. I ran a longer micro USB cable to the passenger kick panel so I can just pull the radio fuse at the driver kick panel and reprogram as needed that way. The RR2 can also be set up with a couple of trigger controls but not sure all the details there. It also uses a USB-C cable…for the two times after install that you might mess with re-flashing it

I didn't see it addressed but you will not be able to retain the current (OEM) microphone with ANY aftermarket HU.
@TRDFerguson is supplying the microphone for the HU he is offering.
Simple to install.
I ran mine from the HU, up thru the driver's side dash speaker hole, up the pillar and headliner.
Then tuck the wires..





I have a similar HU Kenwood Excelon DMX906S and I've been happy with it..

 

I'll probably run it to the OEM to completely hide it

Why can we not splice it into the new HU ?

 

With the maestro unit you will need the appropriate adapter cables as well.

 

The factory mic is powered/amplified. Aftermarket head units don’t support that.

How far recessed is the Kenwood from the front of the dash where the existing Hub was flush ?

 

Is there a data sheet to find which one ?

The top one you’d splice wires into the Kenwood harness. The bottom one (I think) would be fully plug and play to the Kenwood, from the black plug shown, but I’m not positive on that part.

 

It's perfect because you can stabilize your fingertips on that space.
Having wireless Carplay is awesome and I run my XM off the app on my phone.
I have the external tuner, but I never use it....

 

Had a company truck , used android auto and got spoiled. Changed jobs and now I miss it. Going on a few road trips and would love to ease of use to the nav on the dash and allow the gf to watch movies

 

The bottom one you would then also buy the replacement Kenwood harness from Maestro that allows for it to plug-and-play. The black plug on that Maestro HRTO2 harness would connect to a matching connector on the Maestro Kenwood-specific harness.

Personally, I’d buy the top one and splice it.

 

The top one is what I’ve always used. I never looked into the second. Thanks for clarifying
