I can't speak for the 03+ trucks but I believe that the base or SR5 trucks came with 245/70s, and Limited or TRD package trucks got the 265/70s. I believe on my window sticker it shows that the 265/70 R16s came with the TRD package. Or the Toyota website, I can't remember where. It says so somewhere though. Maybe I'll go look at my original spare.

I could be wrong but I thought that all 00-02 trucks came with 16" wheels, and 03+ had optional 17"s.

I have read that the truck will adjust over time to the new sensors etc.. Is this true?

Sure, it's totally possible it will adjust. It's also possible the truck will suddenly run like ass until it finally re-acclimates itself because the new sensors are reading wildly different. Generally speaking, it's best to force a relearn by popping off negative batt cable for 10 minutes. Force the truck to start over.

It’s interesting, after every MPG-influencing change I’ve made, within 2-3 tanks of gas, I’m back to where I was.

I really expected to see a more radical change in mpg back in September after lifting the truck, knowing my tire size was increasing 5% in diameter and probably 20% or more in weight.

Assuming I’m figuring that percentage of change correctly? I’m using 100 - (oldDiameter/newDiameter), putting me at 5% change, i.e. 100 - (30.6/32.2), remembering our PEMDAS, I’m figuring my odometer is logging 5% lower miles (right?), yet … taller truck, heavier tire, logging fewer miles per tank, and more weight in the back with the cap… looking back at my 80/20 city/hwy driving, over early the entirety of 2023, I’m still in the range I’ve pretty much always been, save for some maintenance action I took here or there.

    Weird.

The non-TRD OR package early models came with 245/70/16 tires on steelies or Patricks. The TRD OR upgraded tire was a BF Goodrich Trail TA in 265/70/16 on Patricks. There was no 17" tire option on the early models.
