    Hello All,
I have a 2006 tundra with 39,000 miles on it. However, the undercarriage is a rust disaster.
The motor is in great shape.

has anyone heard of swapping bodies? If so great how many years newer could I go?

Many of your questions are answered over here, including what to expect costwise: https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-wanna-buy-just-bought-a-1st-gen-tundra-eh.115928/

    Short version:

2006 is your max year for direct swap.

Minimum year depends on your cab type.

Which frames swap directly depends on cab type AND drivetrain type.

You’ve given zero info on drivetrain (v8, v6? 2WD, 4WD?) or cab type, so it’s impossible to answer your question correctly with any certainty.

Welcome to the forum. Like shifty said, we need more info. Also, if the undercarriage is nasty, how's the frame? There are guys who have done frame swaps, cab swaps, motor swaps and the like. Do some searching in the 1st Gen Build Forum and see what others have done.

With 39,000 miles, I imagine that your interior and motor appear to be in fine shape. The "undercarriage" I'm going to assume means the steel body panels and the frame and axles are rusted to shit. Pics will help us help you decide if it's too far gone. If it's as bad as you say, then swapping your low mile engine / trans and interior into a non-rusted Tundra of same vintage and cab type would make sense. Someone selling cheap after they snapped a timing belt for lack of maintenance would make a good target. Which begs the question, wen was yours changed last? Another option is to sell the good bits from yours to that person and scrap the rusty hull.

    Hello All,
Apologies, should have given more detail. I should know from the Harley Forums.
    It SR 5 access cab.

    4.7 V8
Steel body panels and frame are actually ok. It did go back to Toyota for a frame recall. Front brake lines are also new. Everything else is a rusted shit show. Axels, leaf springs mounts all look terrible. Just did shocks and struts in the front. Pictures coming shortly. Thanks all!
