In my 06 DC, my driver's door creaks when going over bumps. At first, I thought my door wasn't closed properly and checked, only to find it locked. My door isn't sagging or anything, and everything lines up, but I did notice the plastic covering over the latch part of the door is broken. The plastic covers the metal part of the lock. Is this the reason I'm hearing these noises? Will it progress to something more expensive if I don't fix it?

I had the same thing on my sequoia and I had to replace that mechanism, but mine didn't creak it just didn't close very easily.

I just recently replaced my driver side for this reason and its back to new. Now my passenger side is getting bad so I will replace that soon.

That is also happening. Was it a difficult replacement?

looks like I will be replacing soon. I've seen some kind of metal bracket or brace sold online for the doors, but if I recall correctly, it's for the hinges. I wonder if I need to get those as well.

Whatever you do, don't go aftermarket with that part, lest you're liable to cause yourself a lot of pain. The part# is different between years/models, if you need the exact part number for your truck, EPC-DATA site is a great source to fetch the part#. Instructions at the very top of this post.

Happen to me also, stopped my door from closing without slamming it. It did cause me to break my drive side door armrest, the foam separated from the leather.

It's pretty straight forward. Hardest part is getting your hand in to unhook the rods for the door handle and lock.
