    Hello,

just wanted to share this. Watched a few videos on removing the shifter section of trim. Whole project cost less than 100$ cnd. And took less than 1 hr. Now I have wireless Apple CarPlay and a wireless mag charger. A friend is bring a scrap of brown leather that I will wrap the wood in or I’ll urethane the top piece. Only thing I might add is a strip of Velcro to the bottom but it’s a snug fit so I likely will not need it.

So I have some glue I was going to use but I wanted to test everything first. So the charger is held to the leather and the leather held to the console with double sided hanging tape. I might add a layer of cork to the middle as the charger sits high right now and I wanted more of a sunken look rather than it just sitting on top. I had to turn it that way as there is not enough clearance to the bottom if the usb area for the phone to fit.

I looked at doing this in armrest but I open that thing all the time and the magnet is not strong enough to keep it from flying off!

I’m looking for something similar to this, what were the actual charger/cables you bought to make this up?

I can post the links if you need them but here is the stuff! Been working great. Not 100% satisfied with the wrap job of the base /charger but I am picky that way

I think there are MagSafe options for the console lid insert now too. I’ve seen some threads about them. I used an earlier version of this CarPlay adapter and the same USB adapter, console mod and it works well.

Yeah there is an adapter that fits in that insert. I am in and out of that centre storage a lot. My phone would for sure get flipped into the back once a day! That’s why covering that cup holder worked better for me. Would not hold much anyway but you could drill a hole anywhere near there. There is a ton of room there

On my SR5 2020, the Android auto seem to not be available on the radio itself ( the word of my dealer). I ask them to add that feature because the radio look like it could take it, but they said it's not possible. So I'm wondering if that device will add Android auto to my vehicle radio? Looking at the spec, it basically a WiFi card added, but I need the factory Android? Is that it? If so somebody find a box with Android complete?

Do you notice a delay in audio when watching videos (obviously not when driving.)?

Yes, there's a noticeable delay in the audio. Most noticeable with video, but don't need to do that often. I do notice it when I first start playing a song on Spotify, it will take a bit.

I have the same Carlinkit 5.0, wondering if others have the same experience and if other adapters have the same problem. Or even headhunts that have wireless CarPlay built in?

Bluetooth headphones don't have a noticeable delay, so not sure why this should be different.

Edit: A quick google search indicates there's some settings that could be toggled to fix: https://www.reddit.com/r/CarPlay/comments/xkzqz3/comment/ipp17oy/. I'll give it a shot and see if it works.
