Ok all the videos I have saw for my model says you have to pin it before you can get an accurate check of your transmission fluid. So did the previous owner may e put in a bypass kit? Either way, since it don't have one I can check transmission fluid accurately as long as tranny temp is around 112-120? Thanks.

You dont have a bypass kit. Your is OEM. I believe 18 was the first year Toyota did away with the trans cooler. Yes you can do a trans check as you would normally since you dont have to pin the t-stat open, since you dont have one.

Also double check but I believe the trans has to be at 99-114.

2019 was the first year they did away with the trans cooler across the board.

He's must be one of those that was towards the end then. No cooler on his or no t-stat to be more accurate. No pic of the from of the truck.

Thanks for the help. I read the 2018 SR5 models had trans coolers but I did not see one on mine. Although some people say they are Integrated in with the ac condenser? I'm not sure. I wish I knew for sure because I plan on buying a boat and would like one if it does not have a cooler.

Well, there were two different engine options in 2018 as well. You need to provide more info on the truck to get proper troubleshooting.

I think, but I'm not sure, that the 2018s also had some trucks with and without the tow package? If you didn't have the tow package that would explain it as well. Again, without more info to go on it's hard to say.

Mine is the 4.6 without two packages I believe. There is no tow button on shifter. Would I be safe to tow a 22ft bay boat?

That's why you don't have a cooler or thermostat. I don't know enough about boats and their weights to say if that's a safe tow. It's at the longer end of what I'd pull with a half ton, but need the weight and such. Do you have trailer brakes? Do you have a brake controller in the truck? How far are you planning to tow it? Over what kind of roads? How often will you tow it?

For reference mine is an 18 SR5 2WD with the tow package. It has a cooler and a brake controller

It’ll tow just fine. If you’re in the hills use s4.

Search brings up 6800 tow capacity for 4.6 4x2. So looks looks like you are good. Depending on how far you trailer and terrain, maybe look into a transmission cooler.. Surge brakes on trailer I assume...

I may be mistaken but it looks like the warming puck is attached to something resembling the thermostat.

The liquid to liquid trans cooler/warmer doesn't use a thermostat.

What procedure are you using to check the transmission fluid level?

I know I installed a trans cooler and thermostat in mine and behind my warming puck was a block off plate not what is behind his warming puck The transmission on the 57 is different than the 4/6 I believe.
