    No affiliation...

This is a steal since these things are practically unobtainium (maybe I'm wrong @empty_lord could probably find out) and I think they were $500 or more new. The factory one is pre-tensioned at 200 ft/lbs, while the Kazuma TRD is pre-tensioned at 400 ft/lbs. Even though I have the factory LSD, If I was not planning on going to selectable lockers in the future, I would snap this up.

That's the LSD I installed in my 2002, it's excellent.

As far as I know those are long discontinued. My limited experience with them is good

How does the TRD diff rate compared to a Detroit Trutrack? Are replacement carbon disc still available for for the TRD, I'm thinking not.

I dont think anybody rebuilds them. Cheaper to just replace with a different option.

I think the trd ones are Torsen?

Aka no clutch plates to wear like the factory lsd in these trucks

I believe the Kazuma uses clutches, hence the need for friction modifiers.

Hmm maybe I’m wrong, I’ve only ever messed with 2 or 3 trucks that had it.

Speaking of 2 or 3, the Kazuma has 3 forged spider gears rather than the 2 forged spider gears that the other (Eaton) LSD has. I've never found much real info on these units, mostly forum-lore. I do know that mine made a hell of a difference and seeing how rare they've become I'm glad I got it when I did.

ive got a spare Factory LSD diff im going to probably rebuild for the tundra... at 160k (was replaced around 40k according to TIS) on my current LSD diff it seems to be working alright. but i cant imagine the clutches are in good shape after being in the same fluid since 40k miles...

Did we determine the LSD in the early ones like my 02 was the Kazuma?

It is my understanding that the factory LSD was NOT the Kazuma / TRD unit.

I recall that it was sold as an accessory item meant for self install...
I purchased mine on the secondary market for $275, and had my dealer install it ($650) when I first purchased my '02 back in '03 when it had only 18,000 miles on it - everything was covered under my certified pre-owned warranty.

Do you know how to find/order the parts? I ve been looking online but only found an expensive kit made by yukon but supposedly for the toyota version. For the money you almost would just order they're version complete.
