in my intro post - i explained our situation regarding our flooded Tundra. The water level reached the bottom of the seats - DID NOT reach the ECU/ECM Well, I've gotten everything dried out, fluids changed, new battery, new alternator, cleaned all connections, unplugged and replugged everything (with dielectric grease), replaced PCM, airbag ECU, ACC relay in passenger side kick panel. She starts and sounds pretty good BUT will not shut off. I can remove the key and she will stay running. I shut it off by disconnecting the battery. When I reconnect the battery, The dash lights come on like if when I insert the key and turn it to ACC or ON. I'm thinking something in the ignition circuit or an ignition relay switch / relay. Also, when I take out the 30 Amp fuse in the engine compartment the dash lights go out. Any ideas or suggestions? And no, we (my son) DID NOT have full insurance coverage which is why we are trying to repair. Thank you in advance.

Yikes. Tons of connections around the driver footwell / fuse box sounds like they were under water and are susceptible to corrosion. Probably all need checked / cleaned.

Might be better off shopping for a truck that needs an engine?

OP, did you pull the fuel pump relay and ecu from the rear frame rail by the tank?

It seems like it's hot and feeds back to the ECU.

Did you gut the cab? There are a lot of connections feeding back to many modules.

I would do one of the following, subscribe to Toyota TIS or alldatadiy.com they both have schematics and troubleshooting aids.

Hopefully when looking at the schematic and track and understand what it takes to start it, it will give a lead to the shutdown process and what domino's need to tople to shut it down.

Being in what seems like ACC mode when power is applied, seems like a good clue about something tho! To your knowledge, were any modules submerged? Other than fuel pump ecu relay?

That right there is some damned good advice. Also, corrosion has a way working it’s up wires so sometimes just cleaning the connections isn’t good enough.

Thanx for the replies. Yes, the cab was gutted. The driver's seat power controls shorted out and smoked all those wires. To my knowledge, no other modules or relays were submerged / below water except for the fuel pump ecu / relay on the rear frame (i am planning on removing tomorrow). And I will definitely look into the referenced websites. I'm gonna give it an honest effort, BUT I did tell my son that he's better off just selling it for parts (but complete because we don't have a facility to dismantle). It truly is a shame but life happens. And just for reference, this is what it looked like before water and after waterIMG_7804.jpg IMG_8537.jpg

Damn. You couldn’t have paid me to take that truck seeing how high that water line was.
