Cruise Control might contribute to this as well, I know that mine can be kind of aggressive in it's efforts to maintain speed...

Does the AFR from the factory o2 sensors w/obd2 show full rich (11.9) when this is happening?

I don't know, until last week the Innovate was reporting to HPT, I had to use Logworks yesterday.

This is all I have to go off of for being weird, this is a 30 second strip and as you can see minimal TPS change (enrichment isn't set until ~35% TPS), no shifts during this time, but AFR is swinging wildly from one side to another. Way beyond the normal bouncing around. The big humps on the left and far right are the truck switching between Closed Loop and Open Loop for some reason, the middle ground is Closed Loop the whole time including the "smaller" spikes.

Ya, nothing really jumps out to my eye. I'd like to get something like that layout setup so I could get a log of what mine is doing for a possible comparison, More data.

Maybe a misfire is activating COT? Have no idea if that’s even possible without setting a code.

The more I read, the more I question the reliability when getting an extra 230-250hp out of these engines.

Is the standard 160-180hp gain that you used to get from the dealer (called stage 1 by some shops) typically problem free?

My setup can be considered "standard". I'm right at 200hp gain.

    it's trouble free.

Lol, meant more of an install and forget about it.

For you sir and a few others in here. Yall tinker, upgrade parts, replace bad parts,, upgrade tunes, gold plate sheeeet....

I have to create a calendar appointment to cut my own grass. I was just worried about the follow on attention required with this mod, and it appears that the +200hp crowd spend more time with stuff than the sub 200hp crowd.

Would that be a fair assessment?

Same! Probably in the 220+ over stock range but. No dyno to verify it unfortunately. Not much inherent difference, either way you’re getting a new fuel pump, injectors and a tune. It’s just a matter of sizing them appropriately at that point, and going with the most “drop in” options available helps reliability wise IMO like the DW 650 injectors and the DW 300C pump for a reliable setup. Aside from getting closer to the max power limits of the engine, “stage1” isn’t really more reliable than “stage 2” by any metric.

If the guys doing the work don't suck and the tune is good I think it's about as reliable as anything else.

But I might be biased since my truck works. I also have one of the least modified trucks in this group (as well as an early year so no issues with ethanol shit), I just upped the boost and called it good.

I was just thinking, even if you don't have a wideband there should be a calculation from datalogging injector duty cycle or pulsewidth to approximate AFR. I'll have to put some brain power into that later, off the top of my head it'd cylinder volume divided by fuel injected, which is flow rate times pulsewidth?

    Nope all tight.

400 miles to LA. Oddity never happened. In stop and go taking off it went to 9.x then right to 14x

    IMG_3934.jpg

Gaaa none of the 9s are legible.

That's where it happened on the 10 West.

@e30cabrio safe to assume using Denso O2's? Have you tried re-writting the tune. Seems the ecu is trying to compensate for something awry based on @snivilous post of the jumping from open to closed loop on both o2's. It's a head scratcher for sure.

O2s are original. Outside looking at them I have no interaction. I think the one that came with the Innovate is Bosch but I'm not sure.

Picked up the BMW about 1:30, had an 80 mile drive that took almost 3 hours thanks to a bad crash & typical L.A. traffic. Car was a champ, runs great & no issues until when we got to the hotel with it's 5'10" underground parking that my 6'3" Sequoia driven by my wife got stuck in. When I tried to back out I ripped a sprinkler head out. Big fun.

Ya, it sounds like it's going to be a tricky one to figure out with it appearing to be intermittent. If it becomes reproducible at will, that will help a great deal.

I've had a few oddities as well:
    1. My SAIS bypass harness going out of spec (solved).
    2. My starting issue with the FiveO 750s being dirty out of the box (solved).
    3. Strange rpm hunting while coasting at low speed. (current)

The first two being components unrelated to the tune, and the third possibly the same or may be tune related.

The weird thing is, MANY auto trans autos have an issue between 30-45mph...there's always rpm hunting there...whether Audi, Toyota, Chevy, etc...that's a transmission variable that can be helped by torque converter lockout tuning, with either a valve body upgrades like TransGo Jr or IPT updates. The RPM hunting is greatly improved/reduced by such... I'm not certain tunng can fix it alone though...at least my experience with D2 S8s, LBZ-era duramaxes and 7.3 fords...but these were all older tech compared to our trucks...same thing happens in mine so I lock a gear or drive to 46mph to eliminate the nuance...

Mine has recently appeared, right after I got rid of the dirty injectors. I should say that it's more rpm related than speed. It's in the 700-1500 rpm range, in any gear. There was a suggestion that it was in the Flex Lock tuning of the tune, but it's the same as stock, and I'm not able to disable Flex Lock. That suggests that it's something else, I just need more time. I have an idea, but have to wait a while before I can see if I'm in the ballpark.

Another oddity, Normally for these trips I put it in 2WD (thinking less gas) no, I forgot and got the same mileage.

The tree has never gotten "good" mileage (my '10 CM Tundra (2WD) got 15/17)

If this is my only issue so be it. the truck runs like a dream. I embarrassed a '24 760 BMW repeatedly on the freeway yesterday. He expected to walk all over me, NOPE. I kept him at bay & ran away from him repeatedly!

    (I'm shocked too) lol
