The procedure usually calls for a warm engine that has sit 5 or more minutes to check the oil. If you’re checking a cold engine, you’re not getting the intended reading.

got home and started the truck; let it sit for 15 minutes and rechecked. Still reading above the second dimple; removed a half a quart from the fumoto valve. Repeated process and it’s right at the second dimple now ;hard to see from the picture). Next time this will not be such an adventure

You check your oil after putting it in, lol. I just add the oil, as long as there is no puddle in the driveway, I know where it's at. And 1/2qt +/- isn't hurting anything.

I kind of like these types of threads.

So is there a part number for a Lexus(or?) with the same engine that is a metal housing and not plastic?

If you just never change your oil everything is a lot simpler

What’s the biggest tire I can run with the aluminum filter housing?

I swapped mine on my Tundra before the video came out. I guess I'm a simpleton thinking metal was better than plastic, but I've had so many plastic parts break on engines due to heat that it is hard to trust it, so I swapped it for the OEM metal one. I haven't had any problems with the swap in the 3+ years since I've done it. Just bought a 4runner and I'm leaving the plastic one in place without a worry in the world. I like Ahmed's videos and information and I imagine there are some that would mess up the process of the swap and it could cause problems, but I think his stance on this particular issue is a little over the top.

I’m pretty sure you’re good running 37’s, as long as you have the rear differential breather routed up to the rear tail light.

Doesn't exist from what I could find. Seems its just an old wives tail passed through the forum, unless someone can chime in to back up that statement.

One thing i was able to find was a Lexus 4.6 which is is a 1UR that used this part number 1562031040 for the filter cap which appears to maybe have the longer tube in it. Not the same as the 3UR but similar, I'm curious if this one at least uses the correct tube length.

Edit: After looking at photos of the Tundra cap I dont think the Lexus one would be long enough. Photos attached

Old thread, but I purchased the 15650 part number and it has a little lock/retaining clip on it that prevents the housing from screwing on, 2021 Tundra w/ tow package in this case so maybe it has an oil cooler? Toyota parts website says the 15650 part is for non tow package. 15620 is for tow package with oil cooler. 15650 fits on a tow package equipped tundra if you slide off the clip, but I’m not sure what else might be different about that housing specific to a non-tow package (no oil cooler) tundra.

Interesting, looking at the photo you can actually make out a clip on the side now that I look closer.

right, and I don’t know if the filter itself will actually function the same as the 15620 part? Oil bypass function, etc? Clip was removed to install it so it would fit on. The clip just slides off.

So you just want an echo chamber? No discussion or evidence to counter one guy's personal view on the topic?
