Do you need to remove the blower to fix the coupler?

The magnuson is a bit of a bitch for two reasons: the first being the bolts holding it down are a pain to reach, I took a wrench and cut and welded it up to make it easier to get to them, the second is the fuel lines in the back can be annoying to pull. Both are pretty minor, just require a bit of patience. You only need to do the bolts so you can lift the snout and unbolt the snout, I don't think you need to pull the fuel lines for that. The snout comes off with 6 or 8 bolts from the front, then the coupler is just a plastic block you pull and slap back in.

As far as rebuilding, probably wouldn't hurt if it has a lot of mileage which if it's factory blown I'd expect it does. A rebuild from SCOL is about $1200 and is new fluids and bearings and the whole 9 yards.

If you live where you say you do in New Mexico, that would also be a good time to swap the pulley out since it's a lot easier with the nose removed. A smaller pulley will make up for the elevation losses and in my opinion are all but mandatory if you live above 2500ft or so since there starts to be a lot of power left on the table since a supercharged engine loses power from elevation twice as fast as a normal engine.

It's got 137,000 miles, so not crazy but probably worth the money to rebuild I guess.
Is there a writeup anywhere for the snout rebuild or pulling the blower?

A pulley and new tune would definitely be on the list of things to do for sure. I live at about 7300 feet.

Awesome, thanks for the great info. I'm almost tempted to pull the supercharger and put it on my other truck but that one will get a bigger blower on the future.

One more question, the guy said it started rattling recently, any issues driving it home from AZ with the rattle? It's about 6 hours or so.

I wouldn't be concerned at all. The rattling is from slop in the coupler, essentially it has extra backlash so the rattling is just the input shaft tapping back and forth against the coupler/rotors. It won't hurt anything, and usually it's only noticeable at idle.

PXL_20230913_235819760.jpg Wideband installed, would have been pretty seamless until my 2nd weld pass on the sensor bung was a little hot. Had to drill out the plug and retap the threads.

Did a gross fuel adjustment on the PE table for ~10:1 afr yesterday. Just did a quick drive to meet friends and it's 9.2-9.6:1 at WOT, very close, and cleaned up the little bit of pre-ignition I was getting. I'll try to log tomorrow am before heading to the airport. Then start playing with timing tables based on those logs.

I’ve seen that one pop up on FB for my area as well. All my instincts say it is legit and I like to think I’m good at calling them. A FB profile active since 2013, 260 friends, pics of vehicles on his page that match some parts he is selling, and no mention of shipping. Worth a look to anyone interested IMO.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    77.5mm ordered via Harrop.

it will ship once they get them in stock.

which is perfect because my truck is delayed another week due to having to paint more of the truck & replace the scratched passenger rear window (tornado shit).

    Still rockin' the highlander!
