Self Installed 3M paint protection kit

How crazy am I to attempt to install this myself with no previous experience? I found a kit I want for around $500. The dealership wanted to charge me $2100 to purchase the same kit and install it.

The cost is the skilled labor - prep work, install and curing. If you got the clean space to do it and consider your time free then you could technically fuck it up a few times before it was a waste of time.

I definitely get the skilled labor part. I’ve paid to have it done before. And luckily I do have the time right now. I’m just wondering if anyone else with zero experience has given it a try? And how bad did they F**k it up?

I was tempted to do it myself because the stealership wanted to charge 2K and also disclosed it won't be perfect...? Really 2K for something your not positive you can do it properly? Ya, ok next....
I ended up getting it professionally done with Xpel PPF entire front end headlights and all with 2' on the hood and back window w/ 20% ceramic for $1,400.
Well worth it, one and done.
The key component next to being good at it is the environment,it has to be like a "clean room" no dust negative pressure room I mean fcking spotless.

 

I watched someone install on a completely flat smooth hood and realized it requires experience. When you consider all the contours on our hoods I wouldn’t try that as a first experience.
