Hello all. I'm just curious what folks keep in their trucks at all times? From recovery to tools to misc items that they found to be helpful with life.

Myself I keep the following: (I will post pics of everything once I get back home from work in a couple days, and update as life happens)

First aid kit my people and 4 legged friends
    Jump box
    Safe Jack bottlejack with attachments
    ratchet straps
    recover gear
    tool kit
    hatchet and bolt cutters

If anyone would like itemized list of anything let me know. Looking forward to see what everyone else has as I'm sure I'm missing some things that I could use.

    Alot of them
Be careful leaving a jump box in there. The batteries on some of them have been known to swell and start a fire.

Well dang thanks for the advice. It has been in there for a couple years now, but I will take a look at it. Have only used it once to jump my neighbors car.

The load in my truck depends upon its intended use that trip.

+1. Jump box would need compact hi energy density battery to give out super amps. That would call for a lithium polymer battery. Fully charged + high temps get pretty spicy. You can have many fail safes included, but they won't keep the battery cooled when its 100+ degrees in the car.

Heres a video of what lipo fire looks like. Most likely from faulty charging or some previous damage, but they light up all the same:

    • Well-supplied IFAK (this has been the most useful for kids getting injured during sports and just regular play. Cold pack and gauze came in handy when a on my son's soccer team caught a weird header and broke his nose)
    • My trusty-not-rusty CZ P-01 or SP-01 and a few spare mags (depends on if it's summer or winter. In the winter the P-01 is on my person and the SP-01 is in the box. In the summer I keep a smaller pistol on my person and lose the ability to share mags)
    • Flashlight
    • Basic tool set
    • Straps and tie-downs
    • Cargo net
    • Front and rear dash cam cause bitches be crazy

I'm a little envious... My CZ P-01 or SP-01 and spare mags don't get to come along most of the time.

When we go camping they get to hang out in the trailer but unless we cross state lines they can't enjoy the ride on the way... And who doesn't love a nice ride in the truck?!

I carry a first aid kit, tie downs, some tools and electrical tape for when my trailer lights go out. Farley but it happens. I also have a hydraulic jack tied down in the bed when I get a flat tire because the OEM jack won’t cut it. I also carry something else.

That SoCal life requires that you take good accounting of the ups and downs. =(

And yeah - everyone loves a nice truck ride!

From items others listed I will add my Chainsaw and Sawzall in case a tree has come down on the trail to my cottage.
and by posting that I will probably now encounter a downed tree when I go up tomorrow.

    also for those with moonroofs.
I keep a large size straightened cotter pin handy, the kind that go through an outboard's prop bolt.
It is used to clear the front roof drains that keep plugging due to pine needles and stuff.
