Haha, yea I know. Conduit isn't strapped yet. Put those blocks in as temp spacers to level it and see if I wanted to run the conduit that way. the couplings I just slapped together to see how it would look with 2 so close together (3rd is in there temporarily). I think I'm going to move the 90deg elbow over to the right most knockout on the transfer switch that way I'll just have one coupling. I have been contemplating getting a bender just for this one part. Any suggestions?

My apologies to you tradesmen out there!;)

At least you're using conduit, the previous owner of my house ran surface romex to an outdoor lighting circuit and it makes my eyes bleed every time I see it. But any bender from home depot will do the trick, just keep foot pressure on the back pedal when you're bending and you'll be ready to go!

All good, just poking ya a little. :D
Yeah, any bender will have the correct degree marks and notches.
    I like Ideal benders.

I hung a rain gage yesterday. Wife and I had a good laugh since we haven't seen rain in almost 2 months.

We're in the process of redoing our pantry. While clearing it out, we got to talking about utilizing a motion sensor for the lights. Any recommendations? It's just a pantry that's about 16' long and 5' wide. Possibly a moti9n sensor light to kick on when we walk in, and one that would shut off after a minute of inactivity? Also would like the option of turning on manually.
Or if someone has recommendations of something better and/or smarter to do, I'm all ears

I put these in the pantry, main floor bathroom, (half bath) upstairs master closet, daughters closet, and upstairs half bath.

Here’s a little before, during, and after of this weekends project. The gaps in the railing is perfect for my toddler to fall through, so I doubled the railing count. I didn’t realize how loose everything was before I added additional fasteners and lumber, now I have to do the rest of the house then paint of course. upload_2023-8-20_17-13-0.jpgupload_2023-8-20_17-13-37.jpgupload_2023-8-20_17-13-53.jpg

@trucksareforgirls2 - Wife officially agreed to let me remove ALL of the wallpaper and the Curtains. Apparently she never liked the curtains and wants to get new shears. Amazing what you can find out when you have a conversation with your spouse.

I told her I’d give her the dining room of her dreams. I may have overpromised a little. :D

@ebpgh Thanks for the wallpaper removal suggestion. I wrote them to see if they offer any kind of military discount (I have to ask) and they never got back to me. I ended up buying https://www.amazon.com/WP-Chomp-Wal...9&sr=8-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY from Amazon. My daughter figured out that if you pull the decorative layer all of the wallpaper, it exposes all of the glue. Spray this shit on, wait 5 minutes or so and it scrapes off in sheets. It smells citrusy so that’s a bonus.

So as of right now, the decorative layer is off and I’m just working on scraping the glue. Then the fun begins.

Right now the plan is to definitely work on the wainscoting. We’ll see where I’m at in a week or two though.

Right on. I had big plans for wainscot in wifey's office, but now that's like the last thing on the list unfortunately. Maybe one day!

My big issue is this sealed off window frame that a previous owner left when they remodeled the house. I’ll know after I get the glue up but it looks like it may go under the drywall. If so, I’ll leave it alone. If not, I’ll think about pulling the trim and see if I can drywall it. I have no idea why they did this (there’s another one just like it in the room above the dining room). It may be more trouble than it’s worth.

The previous owners had curtains over them which is stupid. We were featured in the annual home tour years ago and people thought the boxed in window frames were cool. I’d rather just have a wall.

Rip em out and fix it. Looks like a boarded up window to me. Guessing they repaired the outside where the window was already?

Other than water infiltration I'll never understand why people seal up windows. The more natural light the better in my book

This one is because of the addition they added but yeah, I get what you are saying. Although with the heat we’ve been having, I’d be happy not having any windows.

We bought a house with an addition which was attached to the back of the house where the back porch was. They opened the old doorway to the back into a cased opening, but left the window for some reason. Like the window panes and all. We removed the window and walled it up.

Shit fair point. Especially if the window faces south.

Now that I think about it I have something almost similar in my house. We have a sliding glass door that leads from the office to the breakfast nook right outside the kitchen. It sounds silly, but it's actually super nice to have the door closed when you want to focus on something. And people get a kick out of an interior sliding glass door, very Brady Bunch style.

Post repair. Found termite damage in there when the window was removed, so had to reframe some of that.

edit: ironically, my wife hung a decorative window right there.......

A little progress made on the dining room. All the wallpaper and glue is off. Need to wash the walls and scrape one more time to remove any leftover residue. Removed the chair-rail because it's be easier to work on the walls and will be replacing it with something nicer.

Since I was nasty already I decided to get rid of the other ugly curtains along with the lace, dust collecting sheers. I'm already breathing better. Wife wants curtains but they'll be something nicer and less in your face (I hope). :)
