Lots of people using them on this site. I have the similar MotivX on mine and love it. If it weren't for the filter replacement being so messy, I wouldn't even need gloves to change the oil.

Love mine, but definitely need to note that you have to buy the tool from them at the same time. There's a lot of hit-and-miss around actual tool dimensions out there, and cheaper/Amazon/eBay ones don't all work. (Most don't.)

My gripe with the Fumoto is the small port size. Takes a little time to drain even with warm oil. That said, I know Toyota doesn't have the best quality weld on the nut inside the pan, so for that reason Fumoto it is. Does anyone know of an aftermarket cast aluminum one piece pan with a drilled and threaded hole?

Do you have plates? I mean the whole thing is maybe three inches longer/hanging out than the regular bolt, so unless you off-road a lot and/or don't have plates (I have full set front skid and cat plates) they shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I don't personally use one, never felt comfortable with the flip of a valve being able to cause catastrophic engine failure. That said many people use them and they have a loyal fan base. I've done 9 oil changes to date and use the motivx kit which makes it easy enough. The longest part about an oil change is the skid plate removal and install.

The Fumoto valve is tucked under a skid plate/cat guard plate if you go that route.

The lever was the biggest sticking point for me. I opted for one similar that doesn't have a lever. It's a ball valve that opens as you screw on the drain hose.

The lever engages in a notch when closed, which blocks it from flipping open.

Mine has a lock on the lever, but I think you have a better solution with this. Since I don't see any decent aftermarket pans, I shall order this guy. Thanks for the quick link.

When the valve is closed the lever engages in the notch, as seen in the picture. There is a fairly heavy spring that keeps the lever from easily being lifted out of the notch. And for added peace of mind, they come with a plastic clip that physically blocks the lever from lifting out of the notch.

I haven’t exactly gone looking for examples, but I’ve never heard of one coming open unintentionally. And I used to wheel in a lot more challenging terrain than anybody’s running in a Tundra.

Had one for 2 years now on my Tundra and Highlander. I have them clocked so the lever is upright rather than down near the bottom of the pan. I like that it slows the oil flow down because it would come out so fast that it splashed off the oil pan and onto passenger side wheel before.

I would think that if it failed, you would notice the oil puddle first if the truck was sitting. If it happened in motion the low oil light would come on and you could get pulled over and stopped before oil starvation and ever occurred. I’m just guessing though.

OK, maybe I should have said 99.8% of guys wheeling Tundras. (I should have known better because I used to wheel with a guy with a stock height 3/4 ton Chevy that the only mods were a welded rear, front locker and good tires. He absolutely didn’t give a crap what happened to that truck.)
