Hoping this bad boy cleans up. A 2004 Sequoia just showed up at a yard here. Nothing missing except the accessory plug caps which I already have.

Basically the equivalent of doing the same with WD40. Gone after 1-2 washes or showers.

I don't think we get those in TX. We get the Trail Boss and I think there's a Bison Silverado. I know there's a Colorado Bison

Don't toss the controls. Chuck 'em in a drawer. Someone is bound to want/need them around here.

Its about 20 degrees cooler than it has been this evening so I figured I would evacuate the refrigerant so I don't have to deal with it while doing the timing belt and swapping on the new compressor.
Only recovered about 4oz so its likely got a leak somewhere. I have a seal kit and some dye in stock so I'll chase that ghost after I get it back together.

Ok so that was a relatively easy upgrade. Wood grain is close enough match for the girls I date. I think @shifty’ observed that not all years’ wood grains were the same—he’s right.

    IMG_0131.jpg IMG_0132.jpg IMG_0133.jpg

As others said in the Sequoia swap threads, only the “rear” bracket you take off the Sequoia will be useable. The front has no attachment points except up under the dash, and those are just the plastic “push screw” fasteners. I used some zip ties to tie the two pieces together in the middle just to give it some stability since my hardware collection turned up nothing useful to bolt the two pieces together since I couldn’t put a screw into it.

    IMG_0147.jpg

A pic of removing the old original one; four 10mm bolts:
    IMG_0130.jpg

Some more pics below. Tried to flip the weird foam drink holder things over to the less ugly side but they’re only one-way.

    IMG_0146.jpg

My 2001 Tundra AC connectors for the 12V are this V-shaped thing, but the 2004 Sequoia’s are smaller and flat, so you have to swap these or splice the wires (I swapped mine because my caps still work):

    IMG_0135.jpg IMG_0136.jpg

End result (before I put all the blanks and side mirror thing back in). Fitment not perfect but it’s very sturdy and I’m beyond pleased:

Next up I need to get the storage cubby blank thing to replace the rear climate controls, get the CarPlay/USB thingies for my blanks, maybe replace the foam drink holder things, and something to replace the side mirror controls.

If any of you want the old console or trim or any of this extra stuff FOR YOUR OWN TRUCK (not to sell it, I could do that), send me a message and I’ll get it to you. Once I have the replacement blanks/whatevers for the Sequoia stuff, that’s free too.

Those foams on the cupholders aren't stock anyway, the stock ones are triangular. New foams are inexpensive enough on fleaBay. That's where the PO of that Sequioa probably got theirs.

Show me a pic of what it looked like before? I can probably shake down the part numbers. I usually try to grab a pic of the VIN off any vehicle I yank parts off of for exactly this reason.

Man, I really have a soft spot in my heart for box Caprice/Impalas and wagons. I really would love to have one that looks exactly like what's pictured, then slap a GenIII SBC in it.

Also, wasn't there a bracket that bolts to the floor under the box/cubby part of it, and you run two screws into each side, horizontal, to stabilize the box, or am I nuts?

Once you get the two bolts in where the front cupholder is, it stabilizes everything.

The bracket goes under the “big” part of the cubby/box piece, using the same 2 bolt holes that held the original smaller console inside its cubby/box piece (which the original did without the bracket).

So these holes from the original cubby (that’s daylight you see through those):

    IMG_0130.jpg

Are replaced by the bracket (terrible pic) which lines up with the original holes and the holes in the Sequoia cubby:

    IMG_0129.jpg

Definitely very stable. More so with the zip ties between the two main pieces (held together and to the floor with bolts on the Sequoia, but there are no holes on my Tundra where those went). Edit: see my comment and shifty's parts diagram in this thread, which has P/Ns for the bracket from the Sequoia you totally need if you want this to be a plug-and-play mod.

I grabbed a console for 50 bucks in a yard myself, was all excited. For some reason my dad likes the bootleg walmart looking one the truck came with. Nice work man, I'm Jealous!

Oh if you mean the screws you can see here, I didn’t mess with those at all. You remove those and you can separate the color shell from the black square insides of the big main cubby/storage part.

Also, I wish I’d gotten pics of the Sequoia it came off of. “It has a hard time getting into gear,” says the junkyard guy who just bought it. I look underneath because it’s sitting pretty low. Both front shock mount brackets are shorn off and there’s a bad oil leak. He said, “yeah the guy says he hit a big speed bump and then it didn’t work too good.” Uh, you mean he jumped some fuckin train tracks?!?

LBJs held up fine though, haha

That'll be a big nope from me, boss. I like the box ones, not the bubble ones. Although I will say, having a GenII LT in it would make the swap probably easier, and the Roadmaster 4dr non-wagon looks great bagged laying on the ground, that one is a hard pass for me.

Having grown up in a Family of 7 boys, station wagons were all I knew. I inherited the last of my Dad's wagons. It was a 1970 Mercury Colony Park Grand Marquis ten passenger (a name commensurate in size to the vehicle) exactly like the one pictured except with fake mag hubcaps. She had a 429 with 370 hp and enough torque to haul a cruise ship. It always got the same mileage towing or not (9-10 mpg). The vinyl wood paneling was an indicator you'd made it to the top of the Station wagon hill. I still love wagons as witnessed by my current one. My wife canOld Man's 70 Merc Grand Marquis Colony Park.jpg FB_IMG_1493987884515.jpg not fathom the attraction.

    That's awesome.

My wife may actually like wagons more than I do, actually, when we were shopping for a family car as the 1st kid was entering 2nd trimester, I had to steer us toward an SUV

Dang, can’t find it online but you’d love it, the comedian Brian Regan has a long joke about riding in the back of a station wagon with all his brothers and needing to pee really bad. Dad’s oblivious or just doesn’t care. So brothers kind of hold him up so he can pee out the back window, but it flies all back inside blowing all over their faces. We saw him in Austin and it was pretty good.

Damn. That wood panel wagon looks a lot like the family truckster the Griswald family owned in National Lampoon’s Vacation.
