Do not remove the upper control arm! Step 1: Loosen 4 14 mm nuts on top of shock mount. Do not remove yet. Step 2: Remove Lower shock nut but don't remove the bolt yet. Step 3: Loosen the 4 sway bar bolts to frame, and remove the sway bar bolt on each lower control arm. Step 4: Remove cotter pin on outter tie rod and loosen nut. Do not remove nut all the way, but leave 3-4 threads and give the top of the nut a good whack with a hammer to release the tie rod end, then remove nut and push out tie rod end. DO NOT twist the tie rod. Step 5: Remove the lower shock bolt. Step 6: With a breaker bar or a heavy duty impact, I use a Milwaukee 1/2 drive cordless impact with 600lbs of breaking force, and remove the two lower ball joint bolts attaching the ball joint to the spindle. Step 7: Remove the 4 14 mm nuts on top of shock mount and remove shock assembly. To reinstall, do everything in reverse. When you get to reattaching the lower ball joint, take a large pry bar and put between the upper part of the coil spring and pry down and install the two lower ball joint bolts. Also, when reattaching the sway bar bolts to the lower control arms, you'll need to drop the sway bar.
It is really a lot easier than it sounds. Next time I do a set, I will make a video.

$1,200 from Toyota sounds fair based upon the $700 quote they recently gave me to install spark plugs which I already picked up myself and would have been only labor for them.

If you disconnect the sway bar from the lower control arm, it will drop down just a little more, you could possibly get the new shock in that way without disconnecting the lca/spindle connection

I did them that way, but was fighting them. Seems to take less time

Labor rates at this local shop ranged from $80 - $160 depending on number of factors

Lift was $500 to install, including alignment

    Hello,

I have a 2017 Toyota tundra TRD pro with bilstein shocks.

I’m buying some fox shocks from a friend from a 2020 TUNDRA TRD PRO.

will those fox fit in my 2017?
