Finally formally introducing myself! Ive been apart of the forum for sometime in my dire search for a late 1GT and finally own one. I’ve owned a 2nd gen 4runner, a 1st gen Tacoma, 2 3rd gen 4runners, 4 4th gen 4runners, and finally think Ive found my white whale!!

After a little coaxing from a random person in a FB group I finally cherry picked my beauty! It is an 05 with just over 109k miles. I really wanted a matching camper (ideally a raised cap) and found this as a whole. I do have a lot of plans for it and will start buying parts when I sell my 08 and 99 4runner.

Ive been apart of tacomaworld and formerly TTC club in central TX. Looking forward to meeting some of you and stretching these capable 1GT legs!!

@shifty` is a very well knowledge and versed 1st gen Tundra owner, and is considered a national treasure amongst us mortals....
I jest, but in real, he's very active amongst the 1st gen forum, also could point out question/solution faster than jack rabbit

Oh, and that link he posted in #3 would be a great place to start reading as those beauties are almost if not already 20 years old, as good as it look on the outside, double and triple check the underside and engine bay for rusting as this is 1st gen, things happen when you reach certain age *cough*

Always nice to have an expert willing to assist!! I joined these groups/forums to find like minded people to help inform/work on this hobby. Are there any wrench days here in central tx? I consider myself very capable but I am a certified Youtube mechanic. My physical limitation comes mostly from my military experience; still willing to crawl under a civic though! Glad to be here (Tundra crew seems more my pace). Cheers everyone!

Not an expert, definitely willing to assist. Also a fellow shadetree mech, begrudgingly pushed into that world under the wing (har har) of a USN Dad, a E-2, P-3 mech, tied to a family of gearheads that are pretty heavily entrenched in the straight-line race scene.

This forum has a wealth of informed members and generally good people, I can't be singled out. If I know the answer or can point you to it, I will, but there are guys on here who've been far deeper into the guts of their trucks than I have in my 4-5 years ownership, and more than I ever intend to be. That's the real treasure here. As long as you follow the loose rules, avoid the one strict rule of NO political discussion/signaling/trolling, and aren't a dick, you'll probably find it at-home.

You're maybe fortunate there are a number of TX folk on here, most are in/around SATX, and several got together to basically swarm-install suspension for one of our cherished members up in Amarillo not too far back. Much more TX folk than GA folk, I feel like. At least for 1st Gen'ers. I've met more 2/2.5 gen guys in the ATL area than 1st gen folks, strange as that is.
