Gang, it's not like transmission with lifetime fluid. Manual says 5k for regular engine oil or 10k for synthetic. This sounds like a joke more so than a serious reply.

I've heard of people never changing engine oil, but that can't be very good for everything inside the engine.

    --

Mixing oil should be totally fine, even different brands, given they're all API certified.

So you all change oil, but you leave the same engine in there? Every time? I have better piece of mind with a fresh engine every 5k. Some go 10k between engines. But The Car Care Nut said that’s not a good idea, so new engine every 5k for me.

For me, it's oil threads and then "premium" fuel threads/conversations are a close second.
The trans cooler topic is relatively new and I don't follow it. Maybe I'll start watching at some point. I hear it's pretty good.
    But oil? Oil is timeless.

Engine oil engine oil, which one should it be?

Engine oil engine oil, it must be 5w3.

It slips and it slides when it’s hot outside a thicker vis-cos-ity.

0w-20, so good when it’s freezing.

0w-20, to keep that *%*% from seizing.

What you choose likely doesn’t matter one iota.

    When SHTF, just remember, it’s a Toyota….

I've noticed the transmission loves to keep the revs down in this truck. Tow haul and S4 for me.

This line in the owners manual was the reason for my 5w30 switch:

The 20 in 0W-20 indicates the viscosity characteristic of the oil when the oil is at high temperature. An oil with a higher viscosity (one with a higher value) may be better suited if the vehicle is operated at high speeds, or under extreme load conditions.

I use 5W-30 here in southern AZ where it's regularly over 100 ambient, regularly well over 100, during the summer.

Interesting, my 2021 manual states the same thing. “Extreme load conditions” is fairly ambiguous, I wonder if Toyota has anything written down elaborating on what the manufacturer would consider “extreme”.

I’ll betcha a supercharger qualifies as extreme load. Hence 5w-30

Yours is 2020 model. Do you have transmission cooler added? I'm sure it has to work a lot harder vs NA engine, hence higher temps of the fluid.
