I don't have any. Maybe look at some of the overland builds to see what they're doing.

Today was oil change day. I can't do it myself, but Davenport Motors in Plano does a great job at a decent price. They also check fluids, top up as necessary, and give the truck a quick once over in case there's anything else that needs attention. She passed with flying colors.

    Over weekend did something stupid.
Put some cut down tree parts in the 08 crewmax bed. Went to close the tailgate and forgot to check for obstructions and got a 1" limb stuck between tailgate and bed.
Tailgate closed about 1/2 way latched. Tried to open tailgate and handle snapped.
Took a while to get limb out and had to undo tailgate cover but got her open.
Now to find the right tailgate handle

Basically one of 2; either with or w/o opening for the back-up cam if you're so equipped....

I have a factory back-up cam, so I ordered this one; good price, decent quality, fast shipping and easy install.

it has a backup camera but i'm pretty sure aftermarket as it doesn't use factory harness (doesn't work but thats a story for another day), uses the yellow RCA port
So debating between a tailgate with camera or regular tailgate and license plate camera

Yesterday I had to kick a black bear out of my drivers seat, yeah I bet my WTF was many more decibels higher than the one's you've just mouthed!

Truck had been locked up all day and was only opened when I got tools from it. Packed up in the afternoon, unlocked truck, walked out of building loaded with tools, saw bear next to truck, thought nope and hightailed it back indoors. Thought bear had mooched round front of house so I went outside, unladen, about 40 seconds after the first attempt. At which point I noticed my drivers door was now open, that aforementioned WTF was enough to spook the miscreant, who casually got out, headed to the outside corner of the garage, in which I was stood. Then he turned round and faced me, ab-so-fucking-lutely marvellous...So I jumped up and down and shouted obscenities at him and he decided I wasn't worth the bother and sloped off!

That wasn't nearly close to highlight of my stupid fucking animals week. Earlier on I had helped my brother in law separate two bullocks from the herd. The little fuckers decided that they didn't want to use the gate into the paddock where we were trying to move them, spooked and jumped the fence, snapping the top strand of barbed wire. They were fairly easy to separate but we went back and did a goober repair on the fence so that the horses wouldn't hget hung up on it when they were let back in field. I'm on the herd side of the fence and B-I-L is in the horse pasture and the bull decides to come see what we're up to, he's got his nose right up in our shit and then just as we're done he decides that he's had enough of me being on his turf - let me tell you that I'd rather take on a black bear any day of the week than that fucker, he's a bloody massive Angus and has never been overly happy with me unless I'm shovelling beer grain in his direction.
That fucker decided to put his head down and start pawing the ground, I can safely say that you haven't seen a 250lb bloke cover the ten yards to the gate, and vault it, as quickly as I did that evening.

    Can't wait for a third incident... :eek2:

Installed an H-Fab tailgate storage today. Not 100% complete as I screwed up the order and didn't get the upper rain seal. But it's in and screwed down, sealant will follow when I do the seal.

Misjudged the gap with my bed stiffeners and had to pull them to close the tailgate. Nothing a little burr bit can't fix, but it's 115 so everything else will wait.

Here you go, they're even on sale currently. Free shipping came via DHL and was 1 week to Phoenix.
    https://hfabusa.com/

I did find the photos showing a dust seal are all customer installed. They don't come with a perimeter seal, only an optional top seal. I have a seal waiting to insall once it's fully set.

I emailed with Rhys who runs the place a few times and he's super responsive. Typically responds around 10pm PST due to time difference.

I wired one Boost Auto Parts mirror in. Before/after:

    IMG_2813.jpg
IMG_2821.jpg They power fold which is the main feature I wanted:IMG_2826.jpg

It's well-built but could use some more engineering. For example, the power fold switch doesn't fit the blank, so it pokes out ugly AF:

    IMG_2824.jpg

Also it's a pain to run the wiring through the grommet in the door, but the way they've designed it you need to do it twice from different directions. For the passenger side I'll just cut the wires on the second harness and run them through bundled with the first wire.

Questions for those who have come before me:

What's the easiest way to wire a positive light to the courtesy lighting? Tap the foot well light wire?

The mirror running light is wired to turn on with the parking light. Anyone know which wire this is so I can wire it with my DRLs?

Anyone know of a switch that fits that spot that I could use to replace the ugly switch? A standard third-party switch harness fits but pressing the button doesn't work so something about the wiring is different.

Anyone know how to wire this particular switch to automatically fold the mirrors when I turn the car on and off?

I have a solution to the switch issue. During my lighting install I looked high and low for a switch to take the place of my non existent headlight adjusters. From what I can tell double cab trucks have a slightly different opening and can accommodate a “standard Toyota” switch. For what ever reason those trim panels are the only ones that work. If you look on eBay you can tell the difference as the double cab has a power rear slider. Happy hunting!

Regarding a quality switch designed for your specific model and placement, I'd try these guys...

    https://www.aironboard.com/online/p...push-switches.html?color=390&toyota_model=396

... people have said very good things about their switches and it looks like you should be able to get backlight colors, etc. that will match your current config.

Sorry, I have no experience w/the wiring question, but maybe reach out to @RainMan_PNW as he seems to have a good handle on most of those types of mods

I'd find a switch that fits in the hole properly. Lots of options here: https://www.aironboard.com/online/products/switches/toyota-push-switches.html I don't have these mirrors so I'm not sure if you need a momentary type or toggle type.

I wired in my VLED puddle lights to my cargo lamp. I was able to tap in under the trim panel to the left side of the drivers seat. I like having the ability to flip them on permanently if I want via the cargo lamp switch. The upside of the foot well is that they should fade in and out which can be nice.

The foot well lights are negative switched. Tapping the positive on them will give you full-time power. You’d need to separate the ground inside the boost mirrors for the light and tap it to the footwell ground as well to get it to work

Check the build link in my signature.
And if you hit my build thread (click the Lunar Rock in the upper right corner of the site), the first post is hyperlinked. I’ve got boost power folding mirrors wired through the Legacy Gen2 Limited factory mirror switch to fold/unfold (looks way cleaner), and then made up a relay setup to enable auto-fold as well. All the details are there. Some pinouts may be slightly different (the EWD thread in my signature can lead you to that info).

Finally replaced my chrome, dented rear bumper with a black Rock Warrior bumper and upgraded my running boards to a set of P&P Engineering rock sliders. Cleaned up the hitch receiver while I was at it. Put a fresh coat of paint on my windshield wiper arms and bull bar as well, but didn't get pics of that. New wiper blades and battery too.

Got the sliders used and had to clean them up a bit. Pretty happy with how they turned out after using a wire wheel and some Raptor Liner bed coating.

Looks good! Where did you get the rock warrior bumper? Been wanting to do that to mine to get rid of the last of the chrome.

I got the bumper off Ebay: Step Bumper For 2007-13 Toyota Tundra Assembly With Park Sensor Holes Black Rear 723650655320 | eBay

I ended up ordering one that came with the mounting bar even though I didn't need it since my truck has the tow package. I found it was cheaper to order that way than to just order the pieces I needed. Bumper face was easily removed and mounted onto the brackets on my truck, and I'm just selling the new mounting bar with my old bumper.
