IMG_5308.jpg Like where was I suppose to go. My truck was parked there because there is no where else to park and the mail lady was blasting her horn like what the heck. You can get out of your mail car to put the mail in someone’s mailbox without making a whole scene. If you can tell from the picture there is no parking space available close so where was I suppose to park. It’s not like I was blocking the mail car either. If you can not walk to put mail in a mailbox then I would advice you get a new job.

I’m in heat all day, freezing temp and in attic+crawl spaces so don’t tell me your job is more rough then the next person.

If you look at the trash box the mailbox was in front so I don’t see why she couldn’t walk just it put the mail in the box.

    Is this your truck?

    upload_2023-6-20_9-47-10.png

If it is, the only thing I see wrong is that you are parked on the wrong side of the street, unless there is camera mirroring going on. Some towns care and will ticket some don't. I assume the mail truck came in from the left?

    Yes, that’s my work truck.

they don’t care how you park. It was the mail person who had a problem because she has to get out of the mail truck to put mail in a mailbox.

I was not parked in no parking zone, not in a fire zone, not in a no parking spot etc…

    Probably spoiled not having to
Leave her truck on a block with all curbside boxes and gets grouchy any time someone messes that up. In my block everyone's slot is in their door so the carriers are accustomed to parking at a corner and walking both sides of the whole block.

Actually no they can't and shouldn't have to. Mail carriers are pressed for time already. If every mailbox was blocked they would never finish their daily route having to get out of their vehicle. It's has little to do with being lazy.

LOL is it just me or do people park backwards all the time now? There’s a reason why you park with the flow of traffic. Is it not a law everywhere?

I don't think it's about time. Hopping out to stuff the mail in that box would take less time than blaring a horn and hoping somebody movies their vehicle.

Devil's advocate. No dog in this fight. Zero F..ks.

True. But they are actually allowed to notate "box blocked" and skip that stop completely if needed. Sounds like she was pissed off but at least gave him a chance to move. Never a good idea to block a mailbox.

According to USPS guidelines, vehicles should not block mailboxes or impede mail carriers from reaching them.

While it may not be explicitly illegal to park next to a mailbox in some jurisdictions, it is generally considered courteous and respectful to avoid parking in a manner that obstructs mail delivery.

With right-hand drive vehicles, the mail carrier can easily access and deliver mail without exiting the vehicle. It allows them to reach the mailboxes while staying close to the curbside, reducing the need to cross traffic lanes.

Yup, or a fire hydrant or automated trash truck. If your roll-out trash can isn't accessible by the lift here, they sure as shit aren't honking or getting out of the truck to move it.

Go do some insulation work or roofing job or even a crawl space where you have to literally crawl to move and see if you can handle that before having to get out of a mail truck to put mail in a mail box.

When I was a mail carrier I would jump out for blocked boxes. However, we were pressed for time and technically if leaving the vehicle it must be put in park, shut off, and parking brake set, so time consuming.
Like I said, I usually would just jump out and deliver it, but some people would repeatedly block the box and then I would still get out but also leave a polite notice to please stop blocking your fucking mail box.

Pretty much this. Don't get me wrong - if someone's just being a douchebag and blocking it to be a jerk, that's one thing; but either deliver the mail, or don't deliver the main....no need to lay on the horn.

If it was a one-off once in awhile or whatever id just hop out and deliver the mail and not be a dick like the chick youve described. Never know, someone couldve pooped their pants and needed to park close to the front door, sick relative, forgot something and swung back by the house, affair, etc..
Had habitual offenders that id ask politely to not block the box when it was a daily thing, if it kept up they would either get once per week delivery pile or could come pick their shit up at the PO depending on how much of a dick they were.

LLVs are literally like an oven and here in AZ where we can hit 110+ all summer long it really sucks. So no fun for the mailman either.
