Looks good. That brake light looks bright, I bet its bright during the day as well. I like how the bed gets lit up, much better than our stock lights. I wished they made a video of an install.

Thanks. Yes still very bright during the day. And yes way better light for the bed than my previous 3rd brake light.

I have it with the flasher and like the effect. I'll try to get a short video of it and the Morimoto taillights when I tow the boat this weekend.

Any reason this wouldn’t work on an earlier 2nd gen?

I brought this up when I asked Morimoto if it would fit the 07-13. Here is their reply.

That is just not cool. They should have been more transparent before the order was placed.

I’m really not buying it TBH.

edit: that it’s not compatible that is
(I would like to buy it lol)

4-6 weeks is a pretty long wait for a possible non-fitment

I hear ya. It's like when the rumor of the tails were coming out for the 14-21's......there were pics of the test set on a truck, then "we don't have anything in the works for the Tundra", to them releasing a few months later. They have no clue.

I offered to be the guinea pig to see if it would fit. They could potentially tweak their design to include 07-13 and sell that many more units. I was simply shrugged off seemingly without much thought. Isn’t @Headlight Revolution a sister company to Morimoto?

Well they told me 4-6 weeks, mid June. Well got it today. Just have to find time to put it in. I have seen some on here with it and think it looks good. I dont care for that large red lense.

The hardest part will be getting the old housing off. That foam adhesive seal is no joke. When I pulled mine for the cargo to 3rd brake conversion, I had to use 3 plastic pry tools in different spots to get it off.

Just make sure the area is cleaned really well before you install the new one. It should have a pretty good seal with it, but you could always add a silicone bead once it's installed. A couple of people here have done that. The guys that have installed one already should be able to give you inputs on the seal. @2020Platinum has a good video on the 3rd brake light removal process. Don't drop the nuts.....

Thanks for posting this. Watched several already. Trying to get the nerve, still hoping it wont leak, my biggest concern. Don't know how I feel about using caulk.

No prob!...I never used caulk, the foam that came with the brake light worked perfectly and never had any issues at all!

Well got around to putting the Morimoto X3B third brake light in last Saturday. Just in time to have it tested with the heavy rain we had the last few days. I think it looks good on the Tundras, especially the MGM. Not a fan of the huge red lens.

Just finished installing mine, I think I may need to torque the nuts a bit more? It’s not really sitting flush like it appears others are. Didn’t want to strip out the studs. Thoughts?

Did you remove the gasket left behind from the factory 3BL before installing the Morimoto?

Did anyone experience any issues with their tail turn signals after installing this? Just trying to rule out this issue before further diagnosis. Pretty sure they were working prior to the installation. I only have one faulty rear signal now currently, I got the fast flash when I buttoned everything back up after the install. Thanks!

Yep I did. Peeled off and cleaned with alcohol. Good news is it rained pretty good here all night and no water leaked in the cab so at least it’s sealed.
