Had my 21 tundra a few months. Couldn't stand the stock audio. It's an SR5. Been doing audio since I was 15 , 42 now. Wanted to do something different then everyone else I seen. I wanted to try Deaf Bonce. The amps were out of my previous car I sold. Most of the wire is Sky High car audio. I went with 4- 6.5 machete and 4 machete tweeters. I knew nothing would fit and was fine with modifying. The machete are 6.5 are 3" deep and I had to modify the door panels and use spacers to get them to fit. New tweeters i put in the door sail panels and rears I put in the existing place of the old ones. Ran ALL NEW wire, I don't use existing wire. Went overkill and did 14ga OFC from every speaker. Used loc, eliminated factory amp. Subs are underpowered, will be changing the amp out. It is very clean setup, everyone is blown away by how loud it is. I probably will be going to the apocalypse. I have a thirst for bleeding ear drums. I'm still tuning it and breaking in the subs. Don't need to be told about changing out the HU either, I'm not a rookie at this. Big shoot out to James from tech 12 volts for a fantastic box. I will post some videos soon.

So, you say your not a rookie. Good. Im not either. I tried the same path using the stock hu and rockford dsr1 to minidsp 8x12 dl to 3 amps and speakers and subs with a box build by james in a crew max limited. I was not going to change the headunit because I wanted to keep a stock appearance. System was great. However, the stock headunit died and I put in a kenwood dnr 1007xr. The difference was crazy. louder, cleaner and ran bass on -10 instead of +8. Its not about being a rookie or not its about the stock headunit to dsr1 or loc sucks period. You don't have to change the headunit but an aftermarket will get you louder and more powerful as the voltage to amps will be much higher. But, do as you wish. Its that big of a difference especially if our going to the trouble you have already gone to. I have been into car audio as well for since I was 15 as well but im over 50 now and I would not have believed the difference if it didn't happen to me.
