So I had a friend drive to West Virginia and look at this truck for me. Long story short a week later it showed up at my house on a trailer with my name on it.

drove it two days and it started blowing coolant out the overflow making a lot of white exhaust and running like crap.

couldnt help myself and found a NOS 22re head on eBay and ordered a LCE “torquer” cam.

I wish I could’ve put this money toward my other project (Jetta body on a tundra frame) but this is my childhood dream truck from the 90s that I couldn’t pass up

Love those xcab 4x4's some of the most reliable vehicles ever made, as long as you don't get an A/T.
Those early trucks & 4runners were fun to work on, straight forward design with lots of parts interchange from year to year.
Still have my '88 4x4 the one I held onto because it cost me a lot to build the 3.0 Funny how it's considered a classic now!

Some very clean examples in this thread. These are some of my favorite generation Toyota trucks. I just posted up a video on my 94 that I have had for 20+ years, amazing these are celebrating 30+ years in age.
