Hello All, my phone only works in the truck when it’s connected via Bluetooth, when it’s plugged into the CarPlay port I can’t be heard. Happens with my wife’s IPhone also. Anyone else have this issue ?

Check the build link in my signature.
Have you gone into your phone and activated CarPlay after plugging in the USB cable? And have you made sure you are using the LEFT-most USB port? (That is the only one that works with CarPlay)

I should have added that CarPlay comes up on my home screen and everything else on my phone (google maps, music) works, only the phone doesn’t work. It will respond to voice command to dial a contact but they can’t hear me.

Even when it was 'working' functionality was very quirky in my '21 when using CarPlay; I'd have stupid issues like could access a playlist but would have to start playing from the first song (couldn't scroll through the list and pick a song to start with), and also had issues if I unplugged while the car was running, did something w/phone (like drive-thru order), then plugged it back in, it would be all screwed up.

Went w/this item (on the recommendation of a couple of dudes from here) to create a 'wireless' car play environment, and life w/my truck and iPhone have been seamlessly pleasant since...

Basically, the dongle stays plugged in always and the phone automatically connects to the dongle. Just note that on a long drive your phone will be draining since it's connecting wirelessly, so you'll need to plug into one of the USB 'power only' ports while connected so it doesn't affect the connectivity.

*** since you're running an iPhone you'll want the U2-Air version of the dongle....

I hope setting it up again works for you. I noticed you're new here. Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)!

How does it work connecting another iPhone for CarPlay once you have established the connection with your phone?

I wouldn't know. My phone is the only one that is set up to connect in my truck; my wife doesn't drive it. However, if you do a quick search, you can find demo videos all over the place, so I'm sure they'd have something on that concern

I have the Air 2 version and you disconnect it from your bluetooth on one phone, connect it to bluetooth on the other. There may be another way but that's what worked for me.

I have tried everyones suggestions, the only thing I haven't tried is changing the cord which I really doubt is the problem but you never know. After that I will just go the wireless route. Thanks everyone and I will post an update if the cord makes a difference.

I have issues with apple carplay as well (plugged in). If I'm using a navigation app, especially Waze and take a call Waze will start to glitch: screen image gets all scrambled, screen is frozen, etc. and requires me to unplug and plug back in. Randomly when I take a call I will notice that the sound seems choppy and delayed. When this happens I notice that the phone call elapsed timer frozen and the buttons on the screen are unresponsive. Very frustrating experiences.
