Red 06 v8 Tundra Sr5 , not 4x4 :( at around 250,000 miles. Bought from original owner , well taken cared of. He gave me the original rims and tires , plus a trunk cage. Bought at around 200,000 miles.
3 inch lift kit, 20" extreme mudders, oem spark plugs and coils replaced at 240,000.

250,000 : has been having issues lately. Rained Heavy a couple months ago and I ran through huge puddle. Truck turned off on me soon after and had to push it over to the side of the road.
after I let the truck dry in a couple days, i would have to turn the key twice for the truck to turn on.
I like save money and replace things myself. Had a mechanic friend come by and said I only needed to replace plugs and coils. did this and still the issue persists.
had snow fall this months, after the snow, I tried to turn on truck, then had to pass cables when this failed. After this truck turned on. I wanted to drive it to let battery charge and as soon as I got on the road, the truck turned off on me.
Was able to turned it back on and bring it back home. After this the trucks been needing charge every time to to turn on and when I try to drive it, the dash says cruise control. Have already tried taking this off but can't with the buttons.
I believe I need to change the alternator, and or the battery.
Was also told maybe the starter or a plug wire is bad. Just need some advice from actual tundra owners.

Doubt a plug wire is bad. Seriously, seriously doubt it, I'd be shocked, that sounds like an absolute bullshit diagnosis from someone who clearly doesn't know these trucks.

How deep was this "puddle" you went through, and did any water get into the cab?

Have you noticed any cabin leaks, either in the passenger floorboard, or the driver floorboard?

For the parts you've replaced already, what brand were they, and where'd you buy them?

No water in cab that day but water did cover the windshield for a few seconds.
The driver window and windshield, since it's upholstery, when it rains, it's turns humid or wet.
The plugs were ENA , came in a set of the coils and plugs. Bought on Amazon. Also bought dielectric grease permatex

scAmazon is notorious for selling counterfeit parts. Do yourself a favor: Never buy auto parts, appliance parts, small engine repair parts on there. You almost can't buy anything on there these days. Last study I saw showed 63% of sellers are based in China, and almost none of the inventory is checked for authenticity at their warehouses.

These trucks are notorious for hating non-OEM parts, which is explained in more detail over here, especially anything electrical.

But before I even bother lecturing on that, knowing I'd be reinstalling the OEM coils, and your '06 is supposed to get Iridium plugs which I'd almost guarantee you didn't use but should've, regarding your strange shutdown situation:
    • When the truck shuts down, does it just stop running with all dash lights on, or does everything power off/totally dark?
    • When was the last time the timing belt was changed?
    • Have you inspected carefully the Crankshaft Position Sensor wire harness to look for belt nicks?
    • Have you had the timing covers off to check the Camshaft Position Sensor harnesses for nicks?
    • Do you live somewhere where rodents are commonly found, and/or park outdoors in an area where mice probably live?
    • Any codes/check engine light on?
I'm thinking about the crank position sensor specifically because of the 'sudden turn off' - it's such a common issue, and if that sensor isn't constantly feeding back data to the ECU, the fuel pump shuts off.

The following list is my general thought on suspects on the weird electrical BS, based on other cases we've seen here:
    • You have/had water intrusion on the passenger side, and it's gotten inside the ECU clamshell and is causing you grief
    • You have/had water intrusion on the driver side, and it's gotten inside the integration relay (fuse box) and is causing you grief
    • You have corrosion inside your battery cables, and/or where the skinnier power lead comes off the battery and goes up into the engine bay fuse/relay box
    • Bad ground, disconnected ground
    • Water entry into something caused corrosion (do you live in a salt/rust belt state?)
