Hey guys! I need help. I know there is acouple threads on this subject already but I can’t find anything too specific to first gens. Does anyone run 35s on stock gears? If so how is it and have you ever had an issue with anything like tranny?

    thanks guys!

I don’t think there are too many first gens running 35s to begin with. It would absolutely suck on the stock gearing. With the work needed to fit 35s, I would also spend the cash to re gear it.

I dunno if you're planning 35's for show only, and street driving. We'll Al love to see pics.

For reference, if you're just starting to think through it, here's a guy who ran 34's on a super capable truck. He later got 35's on, but it's super limiting to articulation, so he took them off. It's a great read:

Like @Elevatorguy alluded to, most people with 1st gens aren't running 35s because of the sheer expense of running 35s, from all the modifications required. These trucks weren't built to be lifted, so if you're planning to go 35s, you may want to pick a different generation, or another manufacturer entirely. More info on that over here, search the page for "35s" and dive in.

I sure as hell wouldn't want to run 35s or larger on anything w/factory gearing. Sounds like something someone with no money and/or no resources would do because they don't know any better, or it's a superficial suburbanite high school kid looking to make a pavement princess to show off (though no reason they can't be one in the same)

based on my experience with 33's and 34's on 4.88, I wouldn't consider anything less than 4.88 for 35's and would prefer 5.29. But you can run a big 33 on stock gears and save a shit ton of hassle and expense. Or you can run that tire at 4.88 and be pretty quick as well with plenty of torque. I imagine you are looking at around 10K up front to properly set up 35's with a ton of modding without a brake upgrade. And then add gears.

Worth noting, this ^^ coming from the guy who undoubtedly has well over $10k in his truck already, if not $20k at this point in parts + time.

(Not to mention real-world experience applying all those mods out in the wild)

Without a doubt. I would have started differently if I knew how hard I was going to be on my front end and knew then what I know now. I'm pretty happy with the setup although I'm still modding. On my DC, the 34's still have some rub at full compression straight or 80% compression on a turn.

(I mean, wow, I also admit really worded that poorly, and I'd go back to edit if it weren't already quoted :D)

If you have 35’s on stock gears, you’re gonna have a bad time! Oh yeah, 35’s don’t “fit”.
