In the process of installing a Kohler home back up generator.

I did a lot of research and estimates but decided to purchase the unit and ATS through Lowes and hire my electrician and plumber. Gas is connected and the electrician is coming at the end of the month.

The power last year went out at least 5 times and it always seemed to go out around 8 pm to 1 am. The last power outage happened while watching the Elvis movie and I missed the last 15 minutes. Power outage inconvenience days are soon coming to an end.

    Update:
    Start up on 3/6

I built our house with the panel setup to get one. Put it in a year later. Purchased the generator (generac) during a tax free sale and saved about $600. Electrician and plumber weren't bad since most was set up. EXTREMELY happy I got it. It goes out during bad times. Went out during Christmas eve and Christmas, but didn't stop the family from going forward as normal. We got a 22kw and it runs the entire house, even with both units running. Congrats man, you'll enjoy it.
I'm actually thinking about buying the wifi wireless remote that allows me to turn it on and off as well as monitor it since I've had a couple times it would have been nice to have

What does the surfactant do? Kill existing growth?

The surfactant only makes it stick really well to what you spray on, so it doesn't just drip off or rinse away.

Oh ok, since I have the pre emergent done every year, I really don’t have squat for any weeds or other standing grass, I usually just spot treat thru out the year for those.
I know my uncle usually likes to spray before a rain storm(usually unlikely) to get the chemical to soak down into the ground better. If not I have to go out and wet the ground pretty well to get the same effect.

We use prodiamine, dimension, treflan and surflan. I prefer granular and yes it needs to be watered in like your uncle does, trying to apply it before a rainstorm is ideal

Are the others you listed for specific species being targeted? Or just other options for the same chemicals?

Good point, when I do the yearly treatment of the entire lawn I don't use the surfactant for that reason. You definitely dont need surfactant when you spray the lawn. I have alot of shady spots so I get those viney, pine needle like weeds, not sure the name but they need to have the surfactant for sure just cause the small surface area stuff just comes right off.

Other options, different chems. Prodiamine and Dimension do not stop as many varieties as Treflan and Surflan. If you are using on turf I would stay away from the last two.

Does anyone know if I can replace this old style can light without getting in the attic? We have more modern replacements we're hoping to install.

Oh I gotcha. I have never worked with those rotating style ones, but I imagine you can take the whole can out, or maybe take off those side brass looking pins or something? Can you pull it down from the sides at all?

Actually I got it. Just had to hit it with my purse.

We'll have to see if the new lights I bought are compatible.

They will definitely function, but it looks like you may have an issue with installing it as the ones that I have with the spring clips needs something for those springs to be installed on. Hard to make out from the pic but i think worst case you can just use double sided tape to get it on there. Those retrofit LEDs dont weigh much.

That switch will disappear ; the old hot water tank is behind that right hand wall with access to it through the master bath closet...BUT that

breaker/GFI actually runs that whole side of the house

When we RENO the 2nd bathroom that all will be ripped out to fit a full size soaker tub and remove old tank with all of its mechanical's.;)

I have to relocate one of the 3 water filter systems as well....Not sure what the previous owners plans were BUT they never used the same people

    or materials twice :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed:

I did this in the fall with an overseed. Soil temps are in the high 40s here now, grass is starting to green up and grow already. Time to throw down some weed n feed soon. Then wait a month and do the tenacity bath again. Or would you guys do it the other way around. Tenacity first and weed n feed or just straight fert later?

Great question, but I know for sure. I would imagine do it before so that it gets into the base soil before anything gets on top of it. It probably wouldnt hurt to do it after as well. On the other hand it probably doesnt matter either way since in the future you would always be applying it on the very top of everything.

I like the lights too but the issue I think you’ll run into is they will cast big shadows on your face when trying to shave, pluck eyebrows, put on mascara, you know….
