I believe @jgoliath installed the e-brake relo bracket on his rig. I had the shop look at my lines on the lift with the suspension at full droop and they did not think there was any issue with tension on the lines.

That's what I did. I always try to keep an eye on things since this platform is so new, but (knock on wood) I have not seen any issues creep up so far.

I have the full icon rear linkages so my droop is more with the OME 2863 coils + dobinson MRAs. The icon rears might be your limiting factor in droop and those are only rated for 1” lift, so you might be fine.
Those brackets are cheap and it’s even cheaper to just come up with something on the fly if you have issues.

I'm running the OME 2866's with the Dobinsons 2.5 IMS shocks rated for 3". :) I never installed the Icons that came with my kit since they limited droop so much.

Side note: If anyone wants some NIB Icon Shocks. HMU. I'll sell them at a discount. lol.

Very nice, if dobinsons told me this when I ordered the rear IMS shocks I would have just bought this whole kit.

No kidding. I just realized that you can spec out the spring rates front & rear. If I ever need to change out things...I'll have look long & hard at this kit.

Side note: How do you like the Icon upper & lower rear links? They look hella beefy. They might be my next suspension upgrade.

I haven’t properly put them through their paces but the rear of the truck rides great on road and it eats up everything I’ve done off road. I mainly got them bc they are “adjustable” and I wasn’t sure how everything in the rear was going to line up going into it.

Is this a good kit to get? I have no knowledge of suspension and what all that is necessary to get a 3” lift to mount 35” tires with no trimming or any issues. What do you guys recommend ? Should I go with TRD lift kit or icon or kings setup from total chaos. Any insight would be much appreciated.

I plan on doing some off-road but also would like a smooth ride on pavement.

What’s the best kit to go with for 3”lift and be able to fit 35” tires with no issues? Preferably adjustable. I’m trying to figure which route to go. Ideally I’d like one and done kit. Thank you in advance for any input and feedback!

That’s all up to price and brand preference. One and done is buy the TRD 3” lift from Toyota. Mix and match parts from multiple brands is another way or just buy from a website you like and use their selection or buy direct from the supplier. I mix and matched my stuff and bought from all over the place, not what I got but I’ll recommend elka 2.5

All are good kits. I was thinking how I would describe the differences between certain kits the other day.

Here's kind of where I ended up in my head:

    TRD Kit:
    • Summary: A great all-in-one, starter kit for someone wanting to do their first suspension lift.
    • Pro: Solid "plug-in-play" kit that you don't have to think about. Includes everything you need to get started. No real need to "customize" it.
    • Pro: Great for the occasional off-roader. Want a kit for the 2-3 times a year you'll go overlanding or camping with the family & that trip mostly consists of dirt/fire roads? -This is the kit for you!
    • Pro: 100% installable by any Toyota dealer with a warranty - Perfect for the owner that uses Toyota dealers for all of their maintenance & servicing.
    • Con: No on-vehicle adjustability. Requires partial disassembly in order to adjust ride height to compensate for armor, a winch, etc.
    • Con: Rear is just a 2" spacer lift. My opinion: With all the thought they put into this kit, it makes me feel they just phoned in the rear components.
    • Con: I'm 99% sure the Bilsteins they use in the kit are non-serviceable/rebuildable.
    • Warranty: 3 year/36k miles
    Dobinsons:
    • Summary: Aussie engineering (the home of true overlanding) with a lot of coil customization for specific builds.
    • Pro: #1 pro...you can pick from 3 COIL COLORs! In all seriousness, this isn't really important but is a nice to have.
    • Pro: Aussie-designed with a strong pedigree of reliability.
    • Pro: Shocks are fully rebuildable.
    • Pro: Lots of spring rate options to compensate for the weight of your specific build.
    • Pro: Adjustment settings for ride quality
    • Con: No on-vehicle ride height adjustability. Requires partial disassembly in order to adjust ride height to compensate for armor, a winch, etc.
    • Con/Pro: Will still require additional components like UCAs, rear track bar, etc. However, this also lets you pick your own stuff.
    • Warranty: 2 years against defects.
    Icon:
    • Summary: Great for trails and intermediate off-roading while still providing some higher end features.
    • Pro: On vehicle ride height adjustability. Easily compensate for increased weight of bumpers, etc as your build changes.
    • Pro: Shocks are fully rebuildable.
    • Pro/Con: They do have spring rate options (+) but you have to contact them directly and discuss with them to customize & ship assembled coils to you (-).
    • Pro: They have a wide variety of kits with varying options & pricing. 2.5" & 3" body options, internal or remote resi's, ride quality adjustments, etc. These range from $$ to $$$$.
    • Con: No one stop shop option. Depending on the kit, will still require additional components.
    • Con: Have to send components back to Icon for warranty service & pay for shipping to Icon or have a local Icon dealer rebuild them.
    • Warranty: 1 year on shocks, 5 years on delta joint UCAs, & lifetime on springs and other components.

    King:
    • Summary: Equally at home desert racing in Baja or rock crawling with good on road performance adjustability
    • Pro: Widely considered to be best remote resi shocks you can buy.
    • Pro: On vehicle ride height adjustability. Easily compensate for increased weight of bumpers, etc as your build changes.
    • Pro: Shocks are fully rebuildable.
    • Pro: Higher service/rebuild intervals than a lot of other manufacturers. Build to tolerate a beating and last longer.
    • Con: No one stop shop option. Depending on the kit, will still require additional components like UCAs from Total Chaos or Icon.
    • Con: Have to send components back to King for warranty service & pay for shipping to King. (I believe?)
    • Warranty: 90 day warranty

That is awesome info Kroppduster thank you!!

After doing research I’m leaning more towards kings and total chaos kit. And should I get rear link kit with this setup to make everything work together “one and done” or can I just add those late down the road?

New rear links aren't needed, but you will need a lift solution for the rear with this kit. You'll need to pair this kit with some rear coils or coil spacers, otherwise you'll only be lifting the front. Dobinson or OME coils are pretty much what 90% of people are running right now.

Does anyone have experience with the Rough Country vertex coilovers? I know RC is a hit or miss but the vertex coils look pretty good and can’t go wrong with their price.

One thing to note about the Dobinsons announcement is there are dedicated rear coils for the Tundra not just repurposed LC80 coils. Part numbers end in the 800s.

Thanks for taking the time (as always) to give such a thorough explanation.

I realized (after waffling back and forth for a bit on kits) that I felt the way I did on the TRD kits for exactly the reasons you mentioned…especially the phoning home of the rear.
However you gents already gave us the solution on Dobson/OME rears.

The only other kit I was hanging on to see if/when it gets released is the Trailhunter kit which is OME sourced if I am not mistaken…though it maybe much more $$$ than the TRD kit.

Need some insight from the suspension gurus in here. I have a Limited with TRD OR in bound, and I’m just looking to fit 35”s on 18” wheels. No off road bumpers, and hardly any off roading at all. With a Diamondback bed cover.

Originally I was considering Icons stage 1 kit do to cost & improved ride quality, but now that Dobinson’s kit is available Im thinking about going that route.

What springs would be best for the setup Im considering? Im not sure if I need 3” up front to clear 35”s. Also do the different spring rates effect the ride quality?

I think the full dobinsons kit is very nice for the price and it’s pre order right now. If you want 35s the the 2” and 3” will work but they each come with other work, 2” will be trimming and 3” should get a UCA with it like the trd 3” lift. I suggest 295/70/18 and the 2”/1” dobinsons kit and just pick stock spring rate at those heights. The 295 tire is so close to the 35s they are a great compromise. If you want a trd 3” comparison on 35s go with the 3”/2” and look at a UCA upper control arm, the cheapest I found was the TRD 3” lift I got from Toyota $400us.

Preciate the advice bro. I might just go that route, and I don’t mind trimming or pinning at all. For reference what’s the stock spring rate rated at?

Just FYI for those who don’t know. Radflo has a front and rear setup coming really soon. No rear lift or springs as far as I know, just shocks/coilovers.

You wouldn't need to buy the rear links to start and can always get them down the road if you chose to. Besides getting a great product you would get TC's customer support which is a huge value add to many people. We work very closely with King and this would be a great package and you can get the shocks through us as well.
Let us know if you have any questions and we'd be happy to help you out!
