I have a 2006 Toyota Tundra that is rusting under the bottom. Most likely I have missed the recall for the vehicle. Has anyone found a dealership that will repair the vehicle after the recall date for free and if they had to pay what was the cost?

Sorry to hear about your rust issues Ike. The recall has expired and the frames are not being produced any longer from what I understand. No dealer is likely to find a frame and do the work on their own dime and the swap is spendy. If you are mechanically inclined, hate your free time and enjoy punishing yourself physically, mentally and financially, you can do the swap yourself. The frame is but scratching the surface though. Many other components will be rusted and need replacement as well and will fight you every step of the way. Got any pics of the carnage? maybe some temporary solutions available to limp her along a little longer. @Jack McCarthy feels your pain.

I don't think there was ever a recall on the 2006. I remember the recall for 2000-2003 along with their service campaign. There was also a lawsuit settlement for the 2007-2008 Tundra as well.

Pics would help. www.autorust.com makes frame sections that can help cover and fix existing rust through issues.

When I was hunting for mine, I seem to remember the recall was only '00-'03 0r '00-'02. Part of the reason I went for later models, thinking it was resolved.

I'm not aware of it being extended to later years , but you could contact Toyota of America to check.

Sorry to hear about those rust issues. Good luck finding a reasonable solution.
