I thought I remembered seeing a post a while back on someone having a rear parking sensor falling out but can't find it. Has anyone else run into this issue? The rear parking sensor closest to the license plate on the left side if you're looking at the rear of the truck has falling into the bumper. I got underneath it and it looks like they use double sided tape to fasten it. The dealer ordered a completely new sensor and said "I'll talk to my manager, not sure it's covered under warranty." I laughed in his face and told him they will be fixing it free of charge one way or another.

Any update on this? I had the same issue, first one on the driver side fell in last July and the passenger side fell in a few weeks ago. I can prop them in the hole but they usually fall in again as soon as I go off-road, which is daily when I’m at work. Most annoying part is when they both fall in and I try to reverse, E-brake locks up. I have to get out and push one back through back up at all. Also had a few rare instances where on long hauls, it disables cruise controls due to some weird sensor fault loop in the lane assist/proximity system.

I bought this and used the retainer clip, stuck to the OEM sensor tho.

EDIT: not sure if this will fit the 22+

It took about 5 months for a new sensor to come in. I went back in about three weeks ago to have it replaced. They didn't order the retainer which was the defective part.....so I'm waiting for that to come in now. It's a piece of double sided tape on a clip. That's all that holds those in on the rear.

just pull the tape off and put on some 3m double sided emblem tape and reapply. Thats what all of us with aftermarket bumpers had to do. Going on almost a year with zero issues

I tried that, still popped loose. I prepped the area by cleaning it and following up with alcohol.

Weird... plastic must be warped on the bumper or the sensor clip

Epoxy or some plastic weld might be the best option if the tape isn’t working

I think this is the secondary issue, with double sided tape being the primary. The two middle sensors are the ones falling out, outside two sensors are not. Outside sensors are mounted through rigid plastic where the middle two are mounted through flimsy plastic that, during the summer months, cannot provide proper support.

Not to red neck it too much........clear silicon on the INSIDE of the bumper so it is not visible. They will never ...ever fall out. I clear siliconed center caps on my wheels because I was spinning donuts in my 2012 and drilled the snowbank. Siliconed them back on and drove 8 years with out losing one in the winter. Thats what holds an under counter sink in place in your Kitchen.

I get that, but Toyota needs to fix this for two reasons. One, it's their responsibility. Two, if they see enough of these coming into the dealerships for warranty repair, they will eventually correct the design. Similar to the plastic trim piece on the driver seat being redesigned from the MY22 to the MY23. I always try to get Toyota to repair so there are data points for future changes.
