I'm looking to add a remote start to my 2018.
Looking for any opinions, reviews or regrets going with an aftermarket remote start.
Is there any reason to go with the roughly $350 12 volt solutions remote start over the $200 Start X or MPC options?
Basic system as the Tundra is used sparingly compared to my commuter car and things like the "anywhere start" are not really being considered

I went with 12 volt solutions and love it. Easy to install and great costumer service. I had an issue when I installed it and sent them a message and they got back to me very quickly. I also got the forever warranty for it. I can't say anything about the other one's you mentioned.

+1 for tech12volts. I went with the MyCar option to also have the phone capable option. I use it, way more than I thought I would.

I'll third the tech12volt. Having the remote access, even parked in the garage, let's me easily check voltage while in storage and confirms I didn't pull a stupid and auto idiot the wrong app for the wrong vehicle.

    His support is great, too.

I went with 12volt solutions simply because it was 100% plug and play and they had good youtube instruction videos. It seems that start x might offer the same now for a lower price though. All these places use the same type of flash logic modules and then they make the wiring harnesses.

I went with 12 volt solutions and love it. I’ve had it for about 2 years, zero issues. I just ordered one for my rav4, should arrive today.

It seems any of the brands that are truly plug and play seem to be good especially since you don't need/ want any fancy bells or whistles. It would then seem to come down to price, IMO. Compustar, which I and others have, is a great system. However, it isn't plug and play, but has a lot of nice features including their APP and 2-way remotes.

I've had the start-x for 2 years now, no issues other than getting the timing right for the three lock presses. Not a big deal to me as I really just wanted it for starting and warming up when parked outside someone's house. there is an add on module if you ever want to get the remote start from anywhere feature.

Start x was super easy to install and was pretty cheap. Works every time and is very well priced. I will be getting another one for my wife's Sienna.

My situation is nearly identical to yours. I needed a practical solution for a vehicle that doesn't get driven everyday. I picked up a Start-X and will be installing it today, seems like it gives me what I need

Thanks for all the replies. Leaning towards the Start X, simply for the cost savings and the ease of dealing with Amazon

12voltssolutions went above and beyond to help me change some of the deeper settings in the remote start (how long the truck runs for, double or single unlock/lock pulses being sent). pleasure to deal with. I went to them knowing I was paying more for a painless experience.

Well I went to install this and was surprised to find a start X already installed. So I’ll be listing my tech12volt starter kit for sale.

Wow. So is it just a matter of triple-clicking the lock button or will you need to configure it somehow? I also got the long range remote with my tech12volt kit and it might be my favorite part, even more than the remote start. Factory fob range is terrible.

Well that’s the thing. I’ve gotten it to start with the remote a couple of times but I can’t figure out how to do it consistently. Three clicks works sometimes, I’ve done it with two clicks. Don’t know if there are different parameters if it’s already locked or not or if there’s a time delay between presses or what.
