I’ve been struggling with this tire decision so I finally decided to try the LT275/70-18 Cooper Rugged Trek. Had these on my SR5, but 20” P load 275/60/20. Was trying to find a balance between ride quality, noise, weight, and look. I liked the look of slight poke I had with +20 aftermarket wheels on SR5, but did not like the mud in the bed, on the hood, mirrors, on the cab…everywhere. Live and learn.

I decided to try the LT Rugged Treks knowing Discount Tire would swap them if I changed my mind. If DT would’ve had the Toyo AT3 285/70/18 available, that would’ve been my first choice. Now if these don’t work out, I’ll probably move to the 295/70 or 35x12.5 D load Toyo AT3.

I’ve only driven 20 miles on these, but so far I’m impressed with the improved handling, ride comfort, noise level and the look of the tire/truck. I feel like the acceleration is same, or very close, and might even be smoother with the additional tire weight. Based on the dash MPG read out, I’d say MPG will be down about 1 MPG or so.

On the truck, the tires are about .5-.75 inch taller than the stock Falkens. This is with 37 lbs pressure. I’ll play with the poundage, target low to mid 40’s. This would increase the height, but firm up the ride.

Honestly… I’m good with the height, but do wish they were an inch wider.

The spec sheet says 59, but I’ve seen 57-58 lbs posted elsewhere. I’ll have a total weight, with the BBS Pro wheels, in a day or two.

Yeah, y'all are correct. I thought my truck came with the HT G056s on it, but they're the X-CV crossover tires at 37.5 lbs. My mistake. I hate it when that happens!

I’d like to replace my stock 20x8 wheels with 20x9.5 but everything I see is around 12mm offset which by my calculations puts the outer wheel lip out about 2.5”. I don’t mind the lip going out 1” which is about even with fender but I’d rather not have it poke out past the fender.

Anyone find or using 20x9.5 wheels with around 52mm offset?

You will have to look closely for anything greater than about +15 offset. I went with a 20x8.5 with a +15. I am expecting a little poke but not too much. The stock wheels are set in a bit so there is about 45 to 50 mm to play with. Then if they stick out too far, get some TRD Pro fender flares to add another ~20 to 25mm of coverage. Another way would be to use the OE wheels and add a spacer. I think anything in 20x9.5 will have an offset close to "0". I also found that there are wheels with a higher offset number have a centre bore that fits Chevy but not Tundra.

Your best bet would be to pop by your local tire shop and have them go through the wheel catalogues to see what is available.

Hey guys just bought a 23 limited 4x4 and wanting to keep the factory 20s but do bigger all terrains and a level kit what size would y’all recommend. I tow allot and don’t want anything that’s gonna absolutely kill gas either. Had a 2nd gen tundra on 35 and got like 10mpg so don’t want to do that again

295/60/20. But you might as well just go 35s at that point, especially if you're going to level it. Could go smaller than 295/60/20 but may look small with a level.

33" P rated is about as big as you can go without losing MPG and going up to Load E

Im going with the 275/60/20 Cooper AT3 4S

I agree with 295/60R20. I was just looking at a sales manager’s 1794 today. He had 295s on it with the Wescott lift and it looked great IMO. He now has 35s and the poke is slinging crap up the side. Both tires were on the stock TRD 20s. He couldn’t say how much either affected is mpg. I did a similar thing with tires and murdering my mileage on a 2nd gen. Enjoy your Tundra!

I love your truck and so does the wife when I was looking through the forum she said she wanted mine to look like yours. How’s it ride with that rc level kit? I was thinking of going with the wescotts design kit but that is 3” vs 1.75”

look for the lightest tire you can find…. Also the lightest wheels. My 17 in wheels weight 15.5 lbs less than stock, my 35in tires weight 15.5 lbs more than stock, so total per corner is only 11.5lbs more- helps with gas mileage a ton

The kits that raise the vehicle... These kits the ones that replace the springs to raise the truck or the ones that put metal collars on the shock to give it a little extra height?

There are kits ranging from spacers to full coil over systems. The cost will vary based. There are a few good threads to look at that go into detail. Just search the forum to find out the details.

In my case, I want to get a TRD 3" Lift Kit and I am waiting for the prices to come more into my range. I am going to be installing a levelling kit to raise the front up and accommodate the larger tires.
