Ok. I hear what you’re saying. Read pg 412 of the owners manual. If you are still experiencing fogged windows, I’d make an appt with the dealer.

Got our 1794 last week, only 90 miles on it so far. But it's been cold here (Idaho), 15 deg in morning, and twice now I've started it up cold in the morning and let the HVAC on Auto just to see what it would do. It did heat up the cab well I'd say, and the fan speed, identified by sound, did go up from slow to pretty fast in maybe a dozen or more steps. In Auto mode, the speed of air coming out of the dash vents was low, quite low I'd say. But there was decent floor warm/hot air and the cab heated up completely before the engine temp got to normal operating temp, half on the temp gauge.

We also have a 2022 Venza, and it behaves basically the same. I think what's happening with the Tundra is two fold: 1) the Tundra dash vents are very large, so the actual air volume coming out is twice that of what one would think based on my older vehicles that had smaller vents. 2) there seems to be a trend these days to not blow fast air directly at the front seat passengers. My guess is that's a thing with modern cars trying to make for a more tame passenger experience. Just IMHO.

So....I'm fine with it the way it is. And I have no AC experience yet. If this thread pops up again with someone saying there is a Toyota TSB or a recall or whatever, then I would change my stance on it. But for now, I'm going to put this in the category of probably not a build problem and rather a Toyota decision that may or may not be popular.

    OK, trash me now :)

^^^This^^^. I believe manufacturers are moving towards climate controls that work to achieve temps more efficiently. You don’t have to have vents blowing in your face at hurricane levels to heat/cool effectively. I have noticed this with several manufacturers in the last several years (Ram, VW, BMW, etc). Different doesn’t mean wrong.

I noticed that during full heat setting the air flow coming out the rear vents is higher than from the front vents, perhaps this is by design?

I suspect that somewhere there is a Toyota engineer feeling sad that we don't appreciate his/her hard work to make the HVAC work without hurricane force air.

Maybe I'm wrong and there are some Tundras out there with a problem though. Still possible.

A couple of things to try. Don't stay in ECO mode as it "improves fuel economy through moderate throttle characteristics and by con-trolling the operation of the air con- ditioning system (heating/cooling)." Make sure that the rear vents in the back are on. My wife noticed that ours were off.

Any update to this yet? I wanted to add that my MY22 platinum has very low front vent pressure when set to heat mode, and I mean very low! I noticed that the air vents for rear passengers blows like crazy! Even when sent to lowest speed on the blower. Something doesn’t seem right at all about this. I can turn the blower speed all the way to max and it still just barely blows out of the front vents, but is like a hurricane out of the rears. I’m thinking a software update should take care of this issue as when set to other modes the air blows harder

I notice this on my SR5. When set on front vents and high on the blower motor, there's are sounds of allot of air moving and sounds like it's coming from the defroster but what comes out of the vents is abysmal.

Add another to the list. I just picked my Tundra up on Sunday (1-22-23) It's doing the same thing...Hardly any hot air blows out of the upper body vents, hurricane in the back seat. I'm calling the dealership tomorrow, this is Bullshit!

I have a 23 TRD pro with the same issue. Barely anything coming out of the front but blows hard in the rear.

Mine does the same thing. I do agree that the truck does a good job of warming the cabin up. But if it's by design, why does it sound like a tornado inside the dash when you turn the fan speed all the way up? There's very little air coming from anywhere. It should be left up to the consumer if they want or like a tornado coming through the vent. If you want wind in your face, turn it up. If you don't, turn the fan down or point the vent in another direction. Not sure why they design a fan to spool up but limit the airflow. Speaking of vents, I noticed there is no shut off lever.

Same here, lots of sound but not much air movement. As for the shut off lever, I don't like having to re-aim the vent when I want it on or off.

Just push the 5.7L heat button. Its right next to the 5.7L noise button.

The system constantly sounds airlocked to me. With the blower on high, the noise sounds like it's trying to force air through a small hole, and it will not go. I find it interesting that the volume of air is adjusted by changing the temperature setting rather than adjusting the fan.

And the heater. I mean if this is by design it is time to start over. It was nice after working outside in the freezing cold to get in a truck, kick the heater on, and finally be able to feel your fingers again. But now I have to do put my hands up under the dash to find an absolute dribble of heat. It just teases you. Takes forever to get your feet warm. Nothing like a 30 minute ride home with no feeling in your fingers because the dash vents don't work.

I love my truck, and it would be great for them to fix this

Add me to the list. 23 limited crew. No air pressure from front vents regardless of any setting. Rears blow like the fronts should. Lots of fan noise including a higher pitched almost hiss noise from passenger front. I don’t agree with the people that say that it warms up the cabin quickly. I want to feel hot air blowing on my cold ass. This is just another example of everything that’s actually wrong with these new trucks. Some egghead engineer trying to tell me how I should be driving, how my air-conditioning should be working, what engine sounds, I should be hearing, and every other aspect of the truck. I don’t like much about this truck at all and instead of growing on me, it’s pissing me off more every day.

Same issue with my 2022 Tundra. Clearly a defect but Toyota service technicians blow it off and say it is supposed to be like this. Cold air blows 10 times more air than hot air through the When you change from defrost to the vents it sounds like the mechanism is malfunctioning. I really hope they fix this mess. We live in the mountains and need good heaters after skiing!

I guess Im confused here, every toyota I have ever owned doesnt blow heat out of the top vents, it comes from the floor and then there is just a little bit from teh side vents

are you guys wanting the heat to blow your hair back from the top center vents?

At least be equivalent to my previous vehicles or my wife’s sienna. When in auto my previous 4 tundra’s all did a great job with cabin temp. However if it’s more than just me in the truck I have lots of fogging of the windows just one example of not what I’ve previously experienced. So that leads to manual mode and my wife when she’s cold yes wants it to be like a hair dryer which it’s just not capable of which is not what my previous experiences have been when using full face mode. It’s almost half of what her sienna and my previous tundras were. Honestly I Drive about 60k miles a year for the last 21 years and this is the first vehicle that was lacking in an area vs my previous experience that’s why it’s noticeable.

Air flow doesn’t seem any better or any worse than my last Tundra (‘18 CM Limited). The rear vents are actually a bit better, but the fronts seem to be about the same.

Well said. I am shocked how fast my truck heats up compared to my 2012
