Please love your children a little extra today.

This post is heavy, please know this before reading on.


Hey guys, I've really enjoyed being a part of this community for the past year and a half. Members on here have been so supportive and helpful with things tundra related and beyond. I wanted to put this out here just so I could let those of you who know me know what I'm going through as well as to help create some awareness. On Tuesday afternoon my 16 year old son left school early and turned his phone off so we were unable to get a hold of him or track him. His family and friends spent all night looking for him and into Wednesday morning. We had a police officer arrive at our house yesterday afternoon to inform us that our son was found and that he had committed suicide that morning. There are absolutely no words to describe how I feel. He was the oldest of our 3 and his brother (13) and sister (8) are very distraught. This will be a very challenging time for us and I just ask that you keep us in your prayers. Our son had some issues with depression that seems to be hereditary and we had him on medication and regular therapy sessions and honestly we thought he was doing great. This just goes to show you never really know what someone is going through or how they feel on the inside. Please give your children some extra love today and appreciate every moment you have with them.

 

I am so sorry to read this. The worst thing a parent could have to deal with. You will be in my thoughts. So very sorry.

I am so sorry to read this.

My youngest daughter is now 24, but struggled with anxiety and depression, cutting, etc, from about age ten through her teens.

She attempted suicide multiple times.

She is doing much better now, but my heart breaks and I am so sorry for what you and your family must be going through.

Several months ago my next door neighbors grandson got upset and sliced his arm open cutting through his tendons in front of her.

 

I know from experience words don't mean a thing in times like this. But I know their are a lot of genuine people here who wish they could help in any way shape or form, please know your are not alone in struggles like this.

All I can say is I am very sorry about your loss and hope the Mrs, and siblings can wade thru this with you as best as possible.

No words can alleviate your pain, especially from a stranger on the internet, but I hear you and hope you and your family can navigate this and find healing down the road. If there’s ever anything we can do, even if it’s just to listen and let you vent, please know we’re here and we care.

Man, I am so sorry. I know I can't say or do anything to help with how you and your family are feeling, but I'm here. We all are. Know that your grief is shared by all of us, and if we can help in anyway, we will.

 

Condolences... heart breaking to hear this. I have no experiences close. But we've been dealing with a bit the past few years, this forum has been amazing for me. Hopefully we can help in some form, just let us know if there is anything specific.

I struggled with depression for 2 years. Medication didn't do anything. It almost took me out. I know all too well what your son was feeling and it hits hard.

I am very sorry for you and your families loss. This time of year especially makes it difficult. Make sure that take any and all support from your family and friends, even those online. I have a 16, 15, and 13 year old and can not imagine our family having to deal with this. Please take care.

I'm so sorry to hear this man. I wish I could offer you some words of consolation but this is something you cant fathom as a parent, if you've never been through it. Ill just say that my heart is heavy today for your loss and that the need to cherish everyday will be renewed in me today because of this. I am wishing the best for you and your family in light of this tragedy.

 

I’m so sorry to hear this. As a soon to be father, I can only imagine the pain of this situation. My condolences to you and your family. As others have made clear, we are here to help in any way possible.

 

Prayers to you and your loved ones. Reach out if you need anything. Even if just to vent or let things out. Sometimes it's best to vent/unload feelings to someone outside the family that isn't dealing with the same things you are.

This is absolutely heart breaking to hear. Hits very close to home too, but I still can’t imagine going through this as a parent.
