With the 2 ton, weren't you exceeding that amount? It didn't have any issues? Do you just strap it down in the bed for now?

Sorry, I think both jacks we used were the HF aluminum, 2 maybe 2.5tonnes

 

2 tons is 4,000 pounds. You would have to be lifting the entire truck to exceed that. Any corner of the truck should weigh no more than 1500-2000#

 

That would be quite the balancing act

 

Don’t you want the HD Daytona Snap-On copycat with the 3 year warranty? I think that one is $200+

 

Another win for solid axle trucks. Jacking moms qx80 irks me unless i use 2 jacks. (Cant lift from the diff.)

 

I didn't realize there was a difference. Both are 3 ton. I'm happy with my Husky but the Daytona units sure do look purdy.

Well for a 3 yr warranty you know they’re using much better quality parts. The 90 day HF warranty is too short IMO. I’d rather have a 1 yr minimum although I suppose you can buy their extended warranty.

Personally when I finally get a home with a proper garage, I’ll splurge for the $500 Hein Warner model that I know can always be rebuilt.

 

Probably just lighting, but it looks like the passenger door is a different color. Is the handle black or missing? It's easy to be brutal with a car you're disinterested in, but that helps keep the purchase price right. I seem to have an eye for shading variances in car paint.

 

isn't your truck too tall for a bottle jack? How would you use it to lift a tall truck with suspension tire-off?

 

Good question. I'm pretty sure I tested the height in the garage one day but I should verify. I also bought some accessories for it from Safe Jack which makes it safer and taller. I keep a piece of 2x6 in the truck to use a base for uneven ground.

Ah, cheater accessories. That should work. As is, I SOL if I blow a tire with the Taco, it outgrew it's jack. Need to deal with that.

 

I carry a 3-ton bottle jack from Tractor Supply that will lift mine (33” tires), but gotta plan for the impressive suspension droop. So I carry it to be self-contained but, the only time I needed an on-trail tire change, my “pit crew” used a Pro Eagle. Relying on trail buddies to share equipment works well, as long as there’s at least one of everything.

 

I have these. They're about 24" tall fully extended. Bought them at my local rural king.

I like the ones I linked in the 6t because they have feet tabs which helps if your working in dirt so they don’t sink so much

 

I seent them. I just throw a piece of plywood under em for cost savings. If I had just a concrete pad....

When I did the front end on the silver truck, I apparently just used pavers. Either way...

 

Nobody makes a Jack which works with a compressor, huh? That would be ideal.

 

For big rigs they do, probably nothing tactical for trail use.

 

The HF Pro Eagle knock off is the one to get for off road IMO. Coming in December, I think they are taking pre-orders, $300 / 3T. Will work for shop great.

I finally wrapped my head around how to grease leaf bushings with poly bushings and greasable bolts. You loosen the bolts so the grease can leave the inner sleeve and go between the frame mount and the poly bushing flange. Duh.

 

That’s how they recommend to grease the bush on total chaos uppers. I think it also relieves some tension/pressure so you don’t pooch out the bushing

 

Handles are black and yeah, I think it's just a lighting glitch on the panels.

 

Yup, I don't know why that didn't click earlier. Probably a good idea for the Archive shackles as well, I think I'll just do that everywhere except cam bolts to be safe. And, I'm pushing much higher PSI with the thick ass grease I'm using now.

 

Like this? I’ve been toying with the idea of one of these because my old floor Jack broke and I need to buy a new one anyways.
