If you find an old Griswold or Wapak for a decent price pick one up. I like my Lodge pan but the Wapak is half the weight and smooth as my stainless pans. Griswold is somewhere in the middle but easier to find, especially in my area since they were made down the road.

This is what I was thinking. A two piece. I would send the door casing straight to the floor and baseboard butt to it. Trim a simple rabbet out of the smaller top trim piece to create the line around everything. That top piece can get mitered. Just my thinking.

So today I'm trying to fix a bathroom door that will close but not latch. Someone recently recommended these shims. No luck yet. The strike plate is easily half an inch to high.

The door is so far off up top I really wonder if it ever closed properly. It was built in 91 so figured it was due to old age.

I had to modify the shims to fit my door.

I'll have to keep messing with it. Might need to buy a tool that would let me cut the door trim and move the strike plate down.

I just had this issue with a few doors in my house. Might be worth a shot but look at the knuckle bender. It allowed me to adjust the hinges to where the door gaps are much more pleasant and fixed the latch issue.

It works differently, but accomplishes pretty much the same thing as the shims do that you've already tried. Both are only going to fix minor adjustments. With the amount yours is out, short of rehanging the whole frame, I think the best you could do is to just relocate the strike plate.

It bends the hinge to help "adjust". Like xJuice mentioned, it might not be enough adjustment and you may just have to relocate the strike plate.

If I wanted the gap at the top of the door to shrink, I took the pins out and bent the top hinges towards the door handle. I maybe "adjusted" them ÂĽ" to straighten the lines out and the door started latching again.

Ran fiber optic cable between the house and garage. Been waiting about 10 years to do that.

    Flux capacitor!
The interior of my garage project is getting closer and closer to being done. The spiral ductwork has come a long way. Should be able to get the HVAC start up done in the next week. All of the glass garage doors are installed. All of the car lifts are installed and operational. Lots of progress this week. 71592650-7A7D-4680-9CCD-45B11203C051.jpg
