Does anyone know of or have a recommendation of a large screen head unit (9" +) that plays CDs? Seems most aftermarket ones are just digital media now. We have a good collection of CDs so like to maintain that functionality. I am able to find the standard 6.8" or 7" screen sizes, but prefer the larger screen.

I don't think there are any as they are all digital media units. You can convert your cds to mp3 and put them on a USB drive.

I got a Kenwood HU that did CDs as I believed I had to have it, a year later I sold it for a loss & got the 1057, I wish I had gone 1057 from the start.

Figured. Makes sense since some basic drivers would be needed for the HU to know what the hell it was hooked up to.

I did see a Pioneer CD changer out in the wild that used an FM modulator to connect... I'm sure that sounds like dog shit lol

    Function before sparkle.
Even if it did, they need to be almost perfectly flat and can't handle bumps. There is very limited anti-vibration.

I had a Kenwood MiniDisk changer AND a CD changer back in the day. I had a MD recorder & made my own MDs like I used to make cassettes.

Here's what happens when a CD drive is connected to the 1057:

I have 60gb of music on this USB:

The port powers the drive but nothing else.

Yep...because there are no drivers in head units.

You can do an Alpine Halo 9" or 11" and install their external DVD/CD player which connects digitally via HDMI. You can only control it via it's own remote control, but the info displays on screen (just no on screen touch functions for the CD player).

I put mine in my glovebox and it works awesome. Bonus is playing movies for the kiddos on the trips.
