What's the biggest spare that fits between suspension components? I have a 285/75/18 spare on my 2014. Can we get close to that on the 2022?

 

Read through all this before I made my decision and wanted to thank everyone for posting! I ended up pulling the trigger and mounted BFG KO2 285/65r20 on the stock 20s I’m so happy with the result! NO RUB AT ALL on stock height and looks great!

 

Also if anyone is looking for a set of Method 305 in all black 18x9 6x5.5 5.75
I’ve got a set of 4 that had just a little too much poke for me but I think would probably look great for someone trying to do a lift with 35+

 

There is a thread on here somewhere (might be in the earlier parts of this one) that has pics/videos featuring 295/70/18…

Those 285’s are a little taller so don’t know for sure

 

I looked at it yesterday. It looks like there is room. There is a bracket toward the front that might need to be trimmed. Also there are brake lines (I think didn't trace) on the passenger side that should probably be avoided.

 

Just picked these up today. Why someone would buy a Pro then swap out the wheels is beyond me, but to each their own. It worked out for me!

 

Nice! Hoping to find a set of take offs as well. You find them on Craigslist or ???

I’ve contacted Factory Style Wheels to see if they plan to produce a version of these, rep said they have had a lot of interest in it & he’s pushing for it. No clue if/when, but the Tacomaworld folks all seemed very pleased with the FSW products.

 

I found them on Offer Up. You have to be patient though. I saw some high priced ones before I found these. I paid $2k. I've been seeing them around $3k.

 

These are the stock TRD Pro wheels (18" Forged BBS) and tires (285/65R18 Falken WILDPEAK)?
Have you done any lift or leveling?

Have a new 1794 with TRD. All we did was level and put on Toyo Open Country 295/60/R20 drives very nice no rub.

 

35/12.5r18 KO2’s on stock Pro wheel, no lift and no rub. N-Fab Podium steps, & Diamondback cover!

Ahh from the boro? Did they sell for MSRP? They told me they had a solar octane coming in congrats.

 

For those that have bigger tires, did you guys replace the spare tire as well or took it down to save some weight?

Dang Lunar Rock has been my fav new color but this one has really grown on me and may just have past up LR. Nice set up you got there! Hate to admit I am a little jealous!!

 

Replaced the spare on mine. It's only a 7 inch wide steel wheel down there on the spare so the max width you can go is a 295. I have 35x12.5r18 at all 4 corners but went with a 295/70r18 on my spare. Fits just fine. You can fit a full 35x12.5 down there but will need a 5th wheel that can support a full 35x12.5 wide tire. I was too cheap to buy a 5th wheel lol.

The 35x12.5 and 295 are almost identical in diameter. Only off by 1/4" but when mounted on the truck its pretty much spot on, and can easily be adjusted for with tire pressure. Peace of mind for me having a full size spare.

 

No sir. Didn’t change spare and yes removed to save weight. With a 6” lift and 37” tires no way my old arse trying to change a flat tire. Calling the ole tow truck to bring to my shop If in the city and if on dirt trails have a buddy with Off road flat bed monster tower. I have other vehicles to use for any long trips so no worries…..

 

Goodyear MT 305/70/18 getting a bit of rub when braking and turning full lock low speed on flaps but it’s very slight. Just got them on today we will see how it goes. Overall ride is great. I chose these tires as they are only 10lb heavier than oem tire. Rotational weight has
6-8x effect than static weight! Every lb on wheels brakes tires is like adding 6-8lb to your truck.

 

Man the more I see the black camo pattern on these trucks, the more I lean towards replacing all my plain black items with that!! Mo money out the checkbook.

 

Looks great! be curious how you like the tires. BTW the OEM Wildpeaks were only 38 pounds per tire as they were not E rated so the new tires will be more than 10 pounds heavier FYI

 

Ahh you’re right! When I got the truck I asked the dealer if they do tires like print cartridges now because the tread depth was so shallow lol. But these were still 10 pounds less than some of the others I was looking at.

now to find some ccb’s to make up the difference

Thanks! I’m looking at what I could replace with mine. I just put new tires on four corners 275/65R20.

 

I just put Nitto Recon Grapplers 275/65R20 116 yesterday. So far so good, quiet, and has the look I’m looking for! I’ve also finished wrapping or replaced all the chromes!

 

Looks good. What was wrapped versus replaced to eliminate the chrome? Any tips?
