Nice work! I really like the look of a finished garage.

That reminds me of a fire that happened on the USS Enterprise. I distinctly remember this one because I was standing around on the smoking sponson with a buddy (he smoked - I did not) when the door opened and some dude ran out...and flung himself over the safety netting into the ocean.

Called the bridge to let them know they needed to call away man overboard. (I got a lot of "Are you SURE this is not a joke?" About the only time I was ever able to say something like "I was RIGHT F***ING THERE" to the OOW. lol)

Turns out the dude was in the middle of some investigation for whatever...and was getting what we called the 'Big Chicken Dinner' (bad conduct discharge). He'd just set the legal department office on fire prior to his flinging himself overboard; and of course the sprinklers lit off. All of the file cabinets in the legal department had severe water and fire damage - EXCEPT one.

Guess which file cabinet his case files were in. :D

They ended up 'upgrading' his discharge to a dishonorable discharge.

    Damn squids....

I remember someone getting stupid drunk and jumping in Hong Kong Bay....so nasty...and so discharged.

Indeed, seen some odd stuff, although this next one wasn't technically squids.

Was standing watch in the shipyard once (Newport News Shipbuilding) and was standing quarterdeck watch. Walked out into the hangar bay....to see some dude plunge a big-@$$ screwdriver into another dude's stomach. :eek2::eek2: The guys nearby jumped him to detain him.

Told the JOOW who told me to call it away...so I did. Turns out the CO, XO and CMC were all in a meeting and they were right above the quarterdeck, and came down to ask me why I was, why'd I call it away, etc.

Finally lost it and said "The dude is RIGHT down there! Don't you think you want to get your @$$es to where it actually happened and stop asking dumb questions??" and they all ran off.

It hit me what I said then...and thought "Oh Lord, I'm toast." They came back a half hour later and told me "Nope, don't apologize...you were in the right, all is well." I was sh*tting my pants big-time.

Evidently the, uh, 'perpetrator' was some Jamaican immigrant who'd falsified his papers and managed to get a job as a shipyard worker.

Not all pix, as it’s just doors and trim.

Trim and doors are in. The trim isn’t what we ordered, so they will either replace or we will ask for a discount.

    Bar cabinet is also in

Wow. Time is money! I would get the trim you want. If later on you still don’t like it that is a lot of money to spend on the correct trim.

I agree, "get the trim you want" you'll look at that trim everyday, better to get it replaced now while your still in the process of remodel..

To me, it doesn’t bother me. Wife wanted it to match the ones in the house, but said she’ll settle on a discount as it doesn’t bother her too much.

Yep. You never really think about how many feet of trim is in the house.

around each one of my doors you need 17’2” of molding per side.

    F3A92AFC-73E2-4D3C-97F6-A69D7F4F5035.jpg

Each door will cost 275.00 in molding alone.

I have 13 doors or 3575.00. Then we have larger entryways (2) and couldn’t even imagine how much baseboard throughout the house would cost.

That makes me sick just thinking about it.

Carpenter’s are amazing craftsmen. I watched one assemble my last kitchen and it blew my mind. So many things to think about and he made it look so easy.

    Cherry cabinets turned out great.

Ok gents. What say you about this. i have a basement window that’s an access into my master bedroom crawl space. There is hvac ducting and furnace pipes in the way that make me build a soffit but if I did that and went straight to the wall from the bottom of the ductwork for framing it would cover up some of the window. I’m not sure how I should go about framing this with keeping access to the crawl space.

Not that bad but would have been if we had to do the entire house foundation. We got lucky…or something…and only had to piers on a few parts of the house. Our price tag is in the $50k neighborhood. Enough to buy a Tundra in cash!

That is still a grip of money that has to come from somewhere. It could have been worse, but wished it would have never happened to you.

Maybe frame it, but leave a doorway (can be false wall so you can still 'use' as a wall), so you open the door for access?

Lots of changes happening on my clients Garage Project. I had a crane set the two roof top HVAC units. They weight over 5,000 lbs each! I had the ribbon curbs installed for landscaping. Next week I’ve got the exterior stone and ACM panels being installed, electricians, plumbers, HVAC, garage door installation, cameras, security and audio being done. 246593BA-4F46-4C1A-BEF5-32FABEE3FA65.jpg

Check the build link in my signature.
    Simple but handy
Swapped a normal duplex out for one with two USB-C ports. And the fact these ports are horizontal means it will still fit a smaller size power brick in the lower 110v.

    493A3229-2D78-4C10-BD11-CBD256FE1C57.jpg

also made the mini ipad holder out of a scrap block of walnut. The angle makes it easy to see while standing at the counter doing meal prep

Pitched my 2nd floor gutters, fucking contractor have them 3 inches reverse pitched over 25 feet. Was too angry with them to let them back on my property. And realized they never installed J-channel around the 3rd floor attic windows.

Damn it. I have the old USB port ones in the walls. I wish the bastards would quit changing the sizes. I'll need to swap them with these some day soon.
