Suspension debate in my head - advice welcome!

Hey fellas, meddling around with some ideas for my new Tundra. 17' Crewmax. Last vehicle was FJ Cruiser - ICON Stage 1 3in. lift. Self installed.

I'd like to run the stock tires for a while if even just to feel like I am getting value out of them.

So that leaves me with the forward rake. Hated it on the FJ and it almost feels worse on the Tundra.

I don't plan to offroad the Tundra - but have ventured off paved roads to get my dirtbike places. Really just like a nice, LEVEL ride.

Would you fellas...

1) Fix the current level issue with 5100s up front only (approx $500 all in). Gets me level for budget price - and I wait out the tires a few years.

2) Leave it and just get over the rake for a year or two. Then go Toytec BOSS + desired larger AT tire?

Any opinions welcome - just working things out in my head.

Option 2. But now. Newer tires are so much easier to sell. It might feel like you're getting value but it's just making it harder to sell. At least that's a good excuse.

 

I would do option #2

Boss + AT tires will make the difference in ride and the looks.

 

I'm going #2 once I'm able to $$ it.

It boils down to what your going to be doing with the Tundra, the Bilstein's are a good option for just leveling out the front end but will firm up ride quality due to you pre-loading the factory coil spring, if you are wanting to fit not only a larger tire and getting a good ride quality I would recommend option 2...

The BOSS kit has valved specific shocks with full adjustable front coilover's to insure the stance you are looking for along with a 700 lb spring to give you the great ride quality you are looking for and still have great performance off road.

No question option two allows you time to evaluate what you truly need vs what you want. It would also give you time save up and plan. Don't listen to that voice in your head; it will always lead you to what you want regardless if you need it or not.

 

Numero dos. You can set the Boss coilovers a little lower if you want less rake.

 

number two. like @zcarpenter92 said, you can lower the boss kit if you're not willing to get rid of the stock tires just yet.
doesn't make sense to me to pony up for bilsteins, then upgrade to the BOSS (adjustable i might add) kit based on tire size alone.....did i mention the BOSS was adjustable?

Thanks, and of course, you all are right. I already know I wouldn't leave the 5100 on forever so why even mess with it. Just needed to hear it somewhere else. I'll focus on some other truck projects for a bit and start saving for the big overhaul!
