Does anyone else have this issue?

I have never seen the flap not in the tucked in position but it’s clear it caused this damage. Possibly moves in and out while driving?

I remember seeing something related to this a few Months ago. I think the flap needs to be moved to a position where it contacts a film protectant located on the cab. Hopefully somebody with a 22 will chime in with help.

You just have to manually flip it around in the opposite direction. When in the proper orientation it rubs on a very thin nearly transparent strip (may be body colored also) that they placed on the bed side I believe and then you will be ok.

I had this issue…I have NO idea how it got flipped around but it sounded like I had rats at the back there while driving, so I got out, flipped it around and it’s been good ever since (4+ months).

Hopefully your paint damage is minimal and can probably be buffed out.

From picture it looks like it has been rubbed to the bare metal, you can see layers of paint, primer and actual metal. Unfortunately it will need to be painted

Yea, a 1/2 inch section is worn all the way down past the primer.

I last washed the truck about 3 weeks ago and the damage definitely wasn’t there. The rubber flap was in the correct position when I found the damage. It must have gotten out of position then went back into position somehow. After a good deal of rubbing.

It’s going to be incredibly frustrating if the rubber flap can spontaneously move in and out of position and ruin the paint on a regular basis.

So, flap needs to be pushed in, correct?

Yea, pushed in. But in my case it somehow came out by itself. Then also went back in. Sounds like there’s some wiggle room with the composite bed.

I don't even understand the point of it. Can we just take a razor blade to it and cut it off? lol

Per Mike Sweers in one of his videos it’s for Aerodynamic reasons…so you probably may not even notice it being gone be if you cut it out

Here’s a picture of my driver side flap from the top down, it seems to have some PPF from the factory protecting the paint? Per @TILLY this is what I think it is supposed to be doing. In the photo the cab is Towards the top half of the photo and the bed is towards the bottom half of the photo8605DC2C-E62C-4F35-A49C-5E1ECA94014A.jpg
