Hello all! Glad to be here a part of this awesome platform.

I have a 2018 Tundra. There's an alert that comes on when I step on the gas. At first the screened displayed a "turn off... something but it hasn't came back on since and the alarm is only going off when I accelerate. Any ideas as to what it may be. I got a recall notice on the electrical wiring of the headlights. Could it be related?

    What say you?

Welcome to the forum!!! No, I don't think the headlight recall has anything to do with the alarm/alert. I personally never seen, or heard of an alert like that. Maybe something that is aftermarket that is installed on your truck.

This may seem random, but check your oil level? I believe there is an alarm if your oil level or pressure drops below a certain point and engine load will cause changes.

Engine speed, not load; oil pressure goes up with engine speed.:)

If you're gassing it hard it might be the traction control or VSC. I've done that when peeling out. :burnrubber:

And to add to that, incorrect or uneven tire pressure can make it much more sensitive, even if it’s not out enough to turn the tire pressure warning on. And that’s assuming there aren’t mixed tires on the truck.

Read the troulbe codes just to make sure their are none. Do you remember what the picture on the warning message looked like?

I vote for parking brake since it will beep and alert you if you try to drive off with it on

Thanks you guys for the warm welcome. Initially my aunt had called me about the issue, in regards to the alarm sound when accelerating. I was dropping someone off at the airport and I had lend her my truck to go to the store. She tried releasing the "E" brake by pulling on the "hood" handle and popped the hood open. The hood sensor was alerting her that the hood was open and the car was unsafe to drive. I only realized that, that was what it was, when I seen the hood cracked open when I came home. I've never heard of such a thing on a car but I'm glad my Tundra has that feature. Mystery solved. Hope this helps others with the same concern.

I think the hood open sensor was added in 2018. Now that you mention it I could see how someone could accidentally pull it and open the hood while thinking they are disabling the parking brake.

Good to know you got it fixed.

I NEVER would've thought that, especially as I didn't know that there was a hood sensor.

So same time as OEM remote start, right? The two go together like peas and carrots.

    And ditto.

Im not sure about the remote start but I could believe it started becoming standard in 2018. It was definitely an option prior too. When I bought my 2007 last year I ran the vin on Toyota Owners. It said it had factory remote start. I asked the seller and he said no it doesn’t have that. I bought it, drove across town to have lunch with a friend. Parked, got out, hit the lock button twice and then held it. Truck beeped and started right up. I just laughed and said cool!

Glad I'm not the only one!

First road trip we took in our 4Runner I did that. We took the ferry to Port Aransas, and set the P brake for the float across the channel. Got to the other side and promptly popped the hood trying to release the brake. Properly released the brake once I figured it out (high tech stuff!), then pulled aside once clear of the ferry to do the walk of shame and close the hood.

I do it several times a week. The ford is a pull and the tundra a push harder. Most of the time I pop the hood on the tundra and apply the brake harder on the ford. Infuriates me as almost all the previous trucks were push harder to release the brake.

Sounds like the Tundra is more fun than the Ford. "Harder! Deeper!" vs "Pull it out!" I mean, which one would you rather spend time with?
